hey guys,
Ive got a couple motorola talkabout sx700 radios and one is only picking up static from the other radio. they both used to work fine. they both pick up the weather station fine so I assume the transmitter is the problem. ive also tried several different channels and that didnt help. any idea how i can fix them? thanks in advance |

I'm no radio expert- but I know someone who is- maybe I can get them to appear with an idea or two... |

Sorry- sent the guy I know an email- obviously he wasn't too interested in assisting (didn't get a response back via email either). The other possibility is that they only check their email once in a blue moon...
I might suggest that the frequency modulator, or "crystal" (there may be no crystal, it may all be digitally controlled these days) has flaked out in the transmission circuit- have you had it apart to look inside? The problem of course is that you need someone with an oscilloscope to check the crystal out (or the IC, depending on what it uses) for proper timing. |
