Hey there. I just wanted to introduce myself and gain some insight on my old airgun.
It resembles a Benjamin Blue Streak. However, I am not sure the "blue streak" was made 60 years ago.
According to my father-in-law, he got the rifle (used) when he was 10 years old. He is 70 now.
I'll post some pics asap. I can read a little of the stamping but it has quite a bit of patina (corosion) on it.
It shoots great though. |

I can barely make out the writing on the side by the bolt.
It says Sheridan Products Racine. |

| Welcome to the forum! It's a Sheridan Model C Blue Streak. (Benjamin didn't buy out Sheridan until 1977). Production started in 1949, and they changed the safety in 1963. That puts your gun in the 50-64 year old range, which is just as you described. |

| they did indeed go back that far i had a sheriden silver streak when i was a kid, i had a sporting goods store manager send it off for repairs, at that time he said it was a bout 20 years old and that was 30+ years ago, i sure wish i could get it back, loaned it to a friend like a fool, he died unexpectantly and i waited a while to ask his wife for it back, she informed me that she gave it to their son and that it had been in his family forever and will stay in the family, a cop buddy basiclly told me (off the record) unless i had some kind of documentation of ownership, written agreement confirming it was a temporary loan, or even a witness not much could be done, possession is 9/10ths of the law crap, lesson learned |

I think you are a lucky guy!
I owe 3 Sheridan rifles( SS, BS & C9) but they are all from the '70...I like these guns a lot for their appearance and smooth shooting!
If yours does not shoot well after so many years, simply have the inside renewed by a specialist and you will be amazed about the result...I did it with my guns and I assure you it makes a big difference.
These old ones like yours are difficult to find overhere so cherish your one....
Have fun with your "elbow breaker"!!! |

The small tube is starting to detach from the larger tube just under the bolt.
I understand they are soldered together and I'm trying to decide if I should send it to Mac-1 or a local guy here in town.
I really want to keep the gun in its current condition (old rusty patina). However, I want it to shoot like new.
It holds air just fine but recently started to not release the air. It won't fire every now and then. Sometimes, it takes a couple of days before it will decide to finally release the air when I pull the trigger. |

Yep, looks like your Sherri needs some T.L.C......
I know Mac1 from it's steroid tunes but never had any experience with the company.....if you have some one in your neighborhood who can renew the inside, why not ask him if he can fix it.....
The man who did mine, also has a way of glueing the barrel to the tube so that problem is possible to repair....after so many years the solder can loose it's strenght...a mount can destroy it also when not fitted correctly...
So, should not be any problem......
After seeing the piczz, I agree that its worn out appereance has something nice...keep it that way.
My C9 looked even worse but I completely polished it until it was shiny gold...lot of work with a good result...also all wood was sanded and oiled with good result.
So have a specialist take a good look and restore yours....suc6! |

Fixing the gun so it will discharge shouldn't be a problem. New seals are available, and you could probably do that part yourself. Pyramydair has a repair kit that includes the valve removal tool.
I have read that repeated extreme heating/cooling cycles over the years can cause barrel separation from the pump tube (a barn gun, for example). It can definitely be re-soldered, but you would probably lose the aged effect with a new solder joint. No matter who does the soldering you will need to disassemble the gun so the seals don't melt. |
