I built a trap recently using a steel plate on a angle, pellets are not always staying in the box, the only way i can get it to work is to put a pc of cardboard about 1 inch behind the paper target, i can hear the pellets at times ricocheting off the cardboard, is there something i did wrong or is this normal, box is about 10 inches deep plate is on the bottom rear and is approx 18 inches high and comes to the front on top

You should have a 'box' at the bottom of the trap so when pellets hit the angled piece (at least 45 degrees, more is better) they travel down, then get trapped in the lowest, boxed-in point- no way to bounce back out. |
