It's been a few years now since my last post.

Haven't done much air gunning in the time passed, but I haven't forgotten ya'll. In that time I've become an AWS certified welder, worked the real world, and just recently joined the Marine Corps. I got back from basic training on the 4th. My hobby for the last year or two has been my Ford Ranger, and that damning thing called "work"...

Just thought I'd stop in for old times' sake, since I'd often enough have to think of something to keep from going insane Rolling Eyes , wondering how the regulars have been? Took a few minutes to find my username Mad but it's still active haha.

Nice to hear from you! Welcome back. Like my ex-marine father used to say, "the navy needs boats to get across the water - marines can walk."

It's always nice. You guys always treated myself and everyone else like family.

So what's the new big thing in airguns these days? I've done some powder burning here and there (mostly 12ga/.22lr on the farm I worked at for a while), as well as some compound archery. Then the 5.56 down on Parris Island. By the way, I did shoot expert. There's more to score on later in training, but so far my score is a 327/350, Expert. Thanks to squirrel hunting, shooting one of them at 50 yards in the head is the same difficulty as the 12" of black at 200yd standing. Easy as pie.

Hell, because I love guns so much I knew more about weapons, ballistics, and shooting than the marksmanship instructors. They just got to fill me in on some details.

Hey Fritz! Doing well here, well except for meniscus tears in both knees. Still shooting as much as I can even though I lost my basement range due to a pesky little thing called divorce. Just remember what marine stands for : My a$$ Rides In Navy Equipment. lol Good to hear from you! Hope you come around more often now! We missed you!

P.S. Get out of new jersey if you want to airgun. The laws are stupid there now.

"now" he says... "now"...

I thought they had already been stupid, haha.

Right now my permanent station (about 6 months down the road), is looking like LeJeune, Cali, or Okinawa. I'm sure if Sniper is still around he's been keeping you guys up to date on Cali laws (btw, how are they now?), North Carolina could care less, and if Okinawa is anything like mainland Japan then I'm even more screwed than Jersey or Cali...

I suppose its good that I got into 4 wheeling, since that's not illegal yet.

Trip the F out. I haven't posted here in almost a year. Airgunning for me went totally extinct as well as shooting in general. I couldn't tell you much about California laws because I defected last year and now live in Idaho. Faq-U That decision to move in the manner we did created a shitstorm of debt that now I work harder than I ever have in my adult life. It's still about chasing the dream. Neutral SEMPER FI Fritzy.

That blows, Sniper.

Hows the painting business treating you? Welding wasn't doing me bad but I needed something more than being a lifer in that plant like the rest of the guys.

The economy is very strong in Idaho. I job hopped several times the first year struggling with slave wages and being treated like a slave, this is a "right to work state" I was shortly unemployed around christmas and have parted ways with several burners to not lose our house. My wife being unemployed our first six months, now being off for the summer isn't helping. I finally have a job that shows potential-working for a guy also from Ca but the hitch is I often go 3-4 weeks without being paid. Crying or Very sad Our living situation is also up in the air. Our lease is up next year and we know our landlord wants to sell. We have the option to buy the house but finances are in chaos. If we get the boot it will be hard for us to find what we have with all of our animals. Mad

It's come down to day to day living and waiting for a door to open. Aside from alllllllll that. Idaho is NOTHING like socal. In my town you can legally shoot anything within city limits and in your own backyard.
Definitley go for more than one skill. I'm a lifer hitting 40 soon.
My wife on the other hand with a MA degree has 3 skill sets it's just a matter of time for her to land something of her caliber.

With any luck I can do my 20 for the Corps, get out with a decent pension (and not to mention the ridiculous interest rates they give on IRAs and CDs, so once I hit 65 I'll get another check). Even collecting the military pension, I can still work full time. So if that works out, I'll be loaded. And it doesn't look like the Corps is going anywhere anytime soon, so job security is pretty good. Although jumping through flaming hoops on Thursdays sh___ing $100 bills will end up being my specialty to stay in that long because of the cutbacks on the top end, it's really hard for staff NCO's to stay in. Any which way, a man can always dream.

I got a damn good woman, with which things seem like they're working out. We've been together 3 years now. Then if she can stay on track, I'll have to call her Dr. (veterinarian).

Not a bad deal if you ask me, it's all worth the gamble for the American dream.

And it looks like my buddy will have my Ranger back in the action by the next time I get leave, so I can drive a real vehicle again (and have something to waste my money on... 4 wheeling is a crack habit in itself)

Yep, downhill. Just had one knee scoped for spurs now getting it healed up for the other to have spurs removed. And I'm only 44! But it does feel good to have the old gang back.

You still shooting mark? I lost my range, but I shoot at my dad's quite a bit now. Hell it's the only thing keeping me sane. lol I built a rifle box that holds four of my rifle, or three and my son's It was big enough for my beeman by fractions and the box is 4 feet long! That Ram RS2 is huge, but damn it knocks starlings a foot or two if I broadside them. Come around more often even if it is only for the BS section. I miss you guys!

3 more years. I did pop 2 rounds of .45 outa one of my Kimber's 4th of july in my yard. What's funny is it's as legal as watering the lawn. To scout a route for my wife's new social worker job we drove to Oregon today. Tripped out hard seeing where I once worked the first 2 months here. What's an M-ROD AGAIN??? Razz It's still leaking and the stock on my UBER-TUNED B-26 cracked again before the move. The scope is on my M1A which still lives as a "safe queen". The flash hider is back on since Idaho has no retard laws. Faq-U
