What is the most accurate BB gun out there (excluding brass barrel and
CO² guns)?
I do not care about fps, only accuracy. Has any company ever offered a
target/target style BB gun.
Would round lead BBs increase accuracy?

I just purchased a new 499B last week, for an open sight gun it is very accurate in my 35ft. basement range, good build quality, reliable and shoots smoothe. I can get 1 inch groups with it, and will probably improve with time, this gun feels like it has it in it. It's only 240 FPS and it is a single muzzle load shot. I was also astonished what a Red Ryder with a scope will do, I can pick off anything inside of 35 ft. I have the Daisy 25 and am also surprised on the accuracy of it for a $41 gun.

The 25 is a great gun,I have the 125th anniversary edition in the box , and the chinese production model in the photo. For $42 the quality and accuracy is very good and no missed feeds like the red ryder. They are also very quiet, wife doesn't hear anything upstairs. Those two older versions are vety cool.

Muzzle loader? You mean that you drop a BB down the muzzle to load it?
Once the BB is loaded will the gun retain it when the muzzle is pointed
down? |

Yes a magnet holds it in, I suspect they made it this way because the tolerance they held on the barrel, thus making it is accurate as it is. It loads quickly, and is not that much of a problem. With this type of shooting you're taking your time anyway. It is a nice shooting, smoothe gun. |

Does the BB take a while to make it to the breech or is it a loose enough
fit that the BB drops to breech quickly when released into the muzzle? |

It's pretty quick, you can crank off 25 shots before you know it. A repeater like the model 25 would have been a bit nicer, but for a target gun it it is still ok. |

The 499 is untouchable at 5 meters. It's capable of same hole accuracy. Unfortunatly Daisy doesn't have any compititon in this market so the quality of the guns has gone down over the years. Of the 7 new guns my team purchaced this past year we had to send 5 back because of defects. Most often bad shot tubes. Damaged plungers are the worst because the gun can shoot good for several shots drop one in the 4 or 5 ring on ocasion. If you can find an older one, before they added the avanti name, chances are you'll have a better gun. |

My money is still on the Marksman 1790- its not REALLY a BB gun but you can press one lightly against the seal and it shoots them handily. |

How on earth do you get same hole accuracy, unless you have the gun mounted to a rigid support? You mean someone can actually hold the gun THAT steady and actually put a second BB right through the hole of the previous one? That IS impressive! |

Correct.
V-block type bench rest.
We run about 30 shots through our compitition guns this way every year. |

History repeats itself. That's exactly why Daisy came out with the 499 - coaches were returning the 99 shot tubes until they got a good one. |
