"Winchester" branded products are Daisy, for which parts are not as easily obtained as they are for Crosman products.
Also, the "Quest" name is no longer used on the newest versions, it has been re-named the "Optimus" (which is fairly irrelevant as it is the same rifle using all the same mechanical parts). |

In particular the replacement trigger. |

| Thanks for the info. I don't see much on the Internet about the 1028ws, do you know how it sizes up in accuracy and power? I like the look of the stock and seems bundled with a better scope for $99. |

Probably shoots "real" lead pellets about 850-900 fps. Accuracy unknown.
I'd go for the Crosman because of parts, info, aftermarket mods...but if you want to take one for the team...go for the Winchester and let us know how she does?

| Haha...let me explain. My Grandson has a Crosman Quest 1000x and came over for target practice, he ate my lunch! My poor Crosman 1377 and tired eyes could not compete (embarrassed to say 10 yds). So I wanted a rifle and scope and 1000 fps. I found the Winchester 1028ws on sale for $99. Checked online and posted here. I love his rifle but wanted something different. Well My Wife bought me one for Our Anniversary ..beautiful, heavy 11.5 lbs, you need to lift weight to cock the spring (2 arms), and loud. Iron sights were fine, but I needed the scope. It would not sight in, centered 2 inches low was the best I could get. No money for a better scope I shimmed it with tin foil and it is solidly on target. Going to have my Grandson over this weekend and we will see, exploding diet soda at 20 yds. Thanks again Rob, and everyone who viewed this thread. |

Have fun and be safe...and as with all spring or nitro piston guns (they recoil forward and back before the pellet leaves the barrel) practice holding it loosely, and the same way every time, so the recoil is free and consistant before the pellet is on its way. They can be very accurate that way, and you can eat junior's lunch with a little practice.

| Daisy has shifted who makes their rifles over the last few years, they were made in Brazil awhile back, then Turkey, now China... |

| Thanks for the help. There is very little info on the Internet regarding Daisy/Winchester and especially the model 1028ws, which has no YouTube video reviews. |

Not yet anyway. When do you get it? I'm itchy for your video reviews... |

| Hate to admit it, but I returned the Winchester. The Academy Outdoors ran a 4 day sale on the Gamo Big Cat 1250 for $99, traded straight across. It is a great rifle for the money, light, accurate and packs a punch! I have Psoriatic Arthritis and love to shot, but the weight and cocking force of the Winchester 1028ws was too much for me. It is a beautiful rifle and with shims was accurate...almost kept it. No regrets, this Gamo is a keeper. |
