what makes a pellet gun detuned

I was just wondering what makes a pellet gun detuned? i have seen break barrels labeled detuned and was wonder what the manufacturer does to detune it. weaker spring?smaller air chamber?

Depends on the type of gun being talked about- usually it is things like weaker springs, vent holes in pistons or valves, extended length parts not allowing for proper pumping or full compression cocking (i.e. pump rods or pistons). Rarely is the actual "gun" itself- i.e. receiver and/or barrel different as this would be quite costly to implement, whereas a few of the smaller internal parts aren't quite so bad, cost wise, for the manufacturers.

mainly i was wondering about crossman phantoms. What is done to them to make them weaker

Early ones had a longer piston to reduce the cocking stroke and hence the amount of compression on the spring.... Later ones have a hole drilled in the piston to bypass some of the air.... Some have had (or also had) a shortened spring....

ok thanks also do you know of any pumpmaster760 mods? im going to turn mine into a multiple shot pneumatic, But i am wondering what other mods i can do? dos anyone have any clue what kind of pressure is in the air chamber at 10 pumps?
