Just wondering if anybody has tried it. I did some years ago when a friend brought some of those small square exploding packets to the shooting range. It was being sold through a mail order outfit. Not really sure if it was tannerite because there was no mixing to do.
I shot at one of those packets with my HW50 at 25yds. It didn't explode, but the target and frame it was attached to started to burn slowly. The range was shut down as we rushed to put the fire out. That was the last time the rangemaster allowed it.

I don't know if an airgun will set it off or not. I shot a tannerite target only once, at a gun show, with a BAR in .30-'06 on full auto. Pretty spectacular fireball and concussion.

Anyway, to the point - I noticed in this Sunday's sale flyer that Gander Mountain is selling the stuff. $80.00 USD for 10 targets is more than I'm willing to pay for an experiment.

After some "Googleing" I found this on Midway's web site in the description of tannerite targets they have for sale.
"It takes about a 40 grain bullet traveling at 2200 fps directly impacting it to cause it to go off, anything below these requirements will not set it off."
I guess that leaves us small grain pellet shooters out of the game.

I haven't tried them with an airgun, yet! Star Targets now has them for .22LR

Found this youtube video. Looks like it is possible to explode a tannerite charge off with an airgun of sufficient velocity in .177.

The government gets huffy about silencers and full auto fire, but explosives in the backyard are O.K. This is a great country.

Does the girl squeaking in the background come with the Tannerite, or do you have to find them separately?

This presents some great possibilites for use with LGAM. Or epic naval battles with LTB (little toy boats).
