1) Target to download and print:

Week 14; Dec/10>16/2007
Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
4) Any sighting device may be used.
5) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
6) 25 shots at the target, 1 per apple maximum, with 5 sighting/practice shots not on the clock using a different print-out of the target.
7) 20 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 20 minutes-stop!).
8) Scoring is 10 points for the black bullseye, 5 points in the green, and no points in the white.
Touching the edge of a colour counts for points.
Only one hit per apple counts. Maximum point count is 250.
9) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Posts must list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
10) You can enter using both a pistol and a rifle as separate entries- but all rules must be followed for each.
11) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
12) This is an honorable contest for sport- if you lie or cheat, you are the only one who really loses. Please keep it above-board!
13) Each competition runs from Monday to Sunday. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT Sunday.
14) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others.

All,

I follow/compete in a few different internet "postal matches".

But this postal match is increasingly the most fun and the only one that I seem to have time for these days. On that sad note though, I missed last week's competition, I was just too dang busy! (lame excuse!). But the apples looked cool!

But here is my question, can I have my 7 and 10 year old children (boy and girl) submit their scores along with mine? The are both pretty good shots and they use the Daisy/Avanti 499 (the official BB gun of the boy scouts). They were really excited about the apple targets!

Would anyone mind, or is it allowed? It seems like this is a pretty fun, flexible, kind of laid-back match...

Thanks to all, this is a really nice service you all are providing! I look forward to it every week.

It is great that you are teaching children to enjoy shooting instead of learning that demented "guns are bad" concept from the media circus.

I really think more people should teach children that guns are tools and that no inanimate object can inherently be "good or bad" as the use is left to the discretion of an animated being . . .

Submit their targets I say . . . Thumb Up!

Rifle: Crosman 2240/89 with 2-7x20mm scope shooting Cooperhed Wadcutter.
Position: Standing offhand at 10 meters from the target for 16 minutes.
Score: 145 or 160
so I will leave it up to the board officials Neutral
There are 3 fives that could be 10s , they are touching the black but not crossing over.

I'm no official and I hate to point it out but...it said no points in the white in the rules. Deal!?!

I think I'll try my hand at it tomorrow night if I'm able to.

Rene's got it right, but without a better photo you can't tell whether some of the 5s are 10s. The white refers to the area out side the apple but if the pellet touches the apple it is counted, nice shooting Rene.

Phew! For a moment I thought it was going to be real hard to just hit the dot or the green line only.

I need to find a place to try my hand with the rifle, maybe I can rearrange some furniture to get the distance.

Nice shooting Rene. Cool

Cleared some space and could barely make it work for 10m, pretty much shooting kitty corner, through 2 doorways.

Crosman Phantom .22cal and RWS wad cutters, standing, 10m
Time:9 mins
Score:130
Shakes: BAD!

Smile

Is kneeling allowed or would that be considered as a rest or steading aid?

This target won't print out right for me! So between that and everything else going on right now, I'll just sit this week out, and pick up again next week.

I find that if you save to computer than open it with a program or viewer then it will print just fine.

Hope that helps. We don't want you to sit idle for too long. Smile

Well Jim.. try this.

- Right click on the image and do "save target as"
- save the file as html
- open the file and do a Print Preview
- if everything looks ok (which 99% of the time will) print it.

let me know how it goes.. or i can send you the one which i have saved on my machine. let me know your email address.

Good Luc !!
