Can anyone guide me to a simple, idiot proof set of directions for changing/installing a new steel breech on a Crossman 2240? Thanks a lot...

1. Remove barrel band and make sure the gun is unloaded
2. Slide bolt back to expose screw in loading port. This cocks the gun so put the safety on.
3. Press down HARD on the breech to relieve some of the pressure on the screw and using a NEW 0.050" allen key remove the screw
4. Remove the rear breech screw
5. Carefully lift the breech making sure you don't lose the metal transfer port sleeve and the rubber seal under it
6. Slide the barrel out of the plastic breech
7. If your new breech didn't come with a shorter rear screw, you will have to shorten the old one about 1/8" so that it doesn't hit the hammer spring
8. Slide the barrel into the new breech, making sure that the barrel port lines up exactly with the hole in the bottom of the breech and secure with the set screw on the top
9. Make sure the rubber TP seal is in the hole above the valve and place the metal transfer port sleeve on top with the long end sticking up
10. Slide the bolt forward and position the new breech on the gun being careful to line up the transfer port
11. Put the rear cap in the steel breech and line up the screw hole
12. Install the rear screw snug (not tight)
13. Slide the bolt back and install the front screw snug
14. Slide the barrel band back into place
15. Press down HARD on the breech to compress the rubber seal and tighten up the screw under the bolt
16. Tighten up the rear screw
17. Tighten up the barrel band setscrews
18. Check to make sure that the bolt handle is snug in the bolt

Hopefully I didn't miss anything....

Bob
