In an effort to reduce the report of the rifle in a neighbourhood area I have shoot my Hammerli Pneuma .22 cal pcp air rifle at 125 bar to 75 bar. And it is not very loud at all. Neighbourhood friendly at that level of bar. The rifle is recommended to be filled up to 200 bar and refilled at 100 bar. Also at 25 yards there was no poi shift from 125 bar to 75 bar. So, my question is :

1. Will shooting at 125 b to 50 b hurt the valve in the rifle?
2. Will shooting at low power reduce the sound signature of the rifle?
(In my opinion it does, but then again have yet to shoot it at 200 bar)
3. What problem may i encounter shooting at low power?
4. I have determined the poi did not shift but have not chrony these shots. What do you think the fps will look like?

At 115 bar, the Hatsan AT44 will be shooting about 900 fps with 14.3 gr pellets, but it is on the downslope of the velocity curve.... and will probably be losing about 10 fps per shot, maybe more as the pressure drops.... While the noise is less than at full power, it is not actually that much less.... You would have a much quieter rifle if you detuned it by either reducing the hammer strike or restricting the airflow.... and returning to using higher pressures.... The Canadian version gets about 180 very quiet shots at under 500 fps....

You shouldn't hurt the rifle shooting at lower pressures, nor should you encounter any problems.... other than that the POI will begin to drop as the pressure drops....
