Went to go outside and tripped right over this box barely catching myself. I was surprised that Walmart had this delivered to my door when it was supposed to be delivered to the store.

And like a little kid at Christmas tore right into it. First impression is the gun is hefty, grips feel good but very plastic. Tried the bolt a few times and everything seems to operate like it should. Unfortunately I had no .22 pellets and after four different stores a Wallyworld on the otherside of town had .22 hollow point Premiers.

And wow is this thing loud, just gave it a quick test fire.

Also received the Marauder 10 shot clip today so I am preparing to square up a piece of steel in a few minutes

Bummer can't square up the steel breech I was gonna start. I didn't look closely at the scrap I was eyeing and it has two holes that are in the wrong place and I have a bigger chunk of steel but I need access to a bandsaw as my blade broke:-(

I could do it out of aluminum. What do you guys think Aluminum breech versus steel?

Heck of alot lighter using aluminum (and faster to cut).

I know , love cutting aluminum. I have two bandsaws, one is used for wood and aluminum and the other is for steel. I might just go ahead and get a new blade for it when I get some extra cash. With steel I can blue the breach and with aluminum I could polish it. I kinda like the black in guns just looks right even though I have seen some beautiful polished guns.

You can spray truck bedliner spray on the grips, makes a big difference in the feel.

A 2240 was one of my first project guns. Great right out of the box, and there are almost limitless things you can do to it. Have fun.

Making the grips was interesting because the grip frame is not flat. It is "stepped," i.e. the wood has to be inlet for two different planes. Open it up and you'll see what I mean. I found it helpful to lay the grip frame on a computer scanner and take a picture of it. I adjusted the printout a percent or two until it exactly matched the actual frame. When it was just right I printed the mirror image and double-face taped it to the back side of the wood (the side that touches metal). All the "steps" and screw holes were then perfectly layed out.

If the inletting around those steps isn't perfect, then the grip can pivot around the single mounting screw, especially with the extra leverage of the buttstock. The good news is that there is plenty of room to add internal screws or pins to keep it from twisting.

And, just in case you didn't already know - there is an incredibly small spring and steel ball sandwiched between the grip frame and valve tube. (It makes the safety go "click.") If you separate the frame and tube, do so over a towel so you don't lose those parts. Or not, and join the rest of us.

Yeah my plan of attack for the stock is to do a thin middle layer of oak the same thickness of the thin part of the pistol grip. It will then get sandwiched by two layers of either mahogany or walnut , I am not sure of this one plank of wood I have. Waiting for the guys on the Woodnet forums to answer me on the wood id.

Anyway sandwiching the wood this way makes for a very easy inletting. However if they tell the wood is mahogany then I might order some walnut of ebay, I really like the look of walnut.

Walnut is always nice, but mahogany isn't bad. I've had this mahogany box for 30 years now. The wood is Guatemalan mahogany, and the finish is simply brown shoe polish.

Yeah that looks like the same wood I have.

And man my bandsaw sucks, won't cut straight to save its life always wants to veer off. And yes thats with it tuned up and squared. So to anyone out there think of starting a home shop, spend the most money on a good bandsaw it is truly the most important tool in the shop.
