Good day, I've acquired a Beeman "Original Model 5 .22" pistol which I understand is quite unique. I would appreciate any input on its' rarity and value. The term "original" is not a convention Beeman used, and, just to mention it, Robert D. Beeman (founder of Beeman Precision Airguns) has never published the existence of such a pistol in the "Blue Book of Airguns" which he authored for years (11 editions, last one published in 2014)- i.e. the history and price guide ("blue book") on airguns. You would think if the company he founded and operated for years produced such a product, he would have listed it with all the other Beeman-branded products in the reference text he published. How old is this specimen (it's possible it is a much newer product produced by Beeman/SR Industries- SAG Airguns- i.e. in the last 4-5 years), and do you have any pictures? _________________ ` I'd say "I care." But I'd be lying. Hi Eric Believe my earliest Beeman catalog is dated in the early '70s. I've owned a Model R7 for decades and killed a lot of Sycamore pods. Yes, I was a Beeman devotee in his earliest days. I will try to locate a paper of his, written in 1985 as I will recall, which will be of interest to you I believe. He wrote it after ten or 15 years of operations, and was a history thumbnail. Even as a Beeman enthusiast, I learned even more about who I consider the most significant influence in American airgunning. Thanks for your reply and concern. Yea, I got an "Original" Mod. 5 -- just as stamped on the barrel, in .22 caliber, NRA excellent (as new with only the bottom half of the original box). It's not on me- if Robert Beeman has grown asleep at the wheel- so much so he can't listed his own products in the Blue Book of Airguns he authored 11 times over 25 years, I guess we could suggest his days as the "premier" airgun expert are done.
