Gee that doesn't sound very good at all, even with my big nick on my seal it still sounds like it did, as in the time it take the pellet to travel.
I don't have a chrony but tried SoftChrony??? on my laptop and got like 1200fps. I know that's wrong, too many door ways and bad vibes bouncing of the furnace to get a good reading.
You sure your batteries aren't dying. |

I have a phantom, just took it apart and cleaned it up today. My seal looked mint and that was after 1000 shots. No chrony so no numbers though. It seems to me to be shooting pretty good. |

Mine was down on power about 20% when I tried it out a couple weeks ago- but I have yet to get it apart and see what's what.
Also- I'm moving this to "Rifles"... |

So I tried to put a scope on my phantom today. I tore it down and cleaned it up a couple of days ago and it was shooting sweet. I tightened down the scope stop, slapped on the 3-9 and went out into the field. WTF, its cocking but not firing Trigger pulls all the way back and nothing. Crack the barrel again and make sure that every thing feels lined up. Pull and fire This happens for about 20 shots. Cock but no fire when the trigger is pulled. Have to work it to make it fire. Fine, pack up and go home to tear it down. Get it apart and the piston doesnt want to come out of the tube So I'm trying to find out WTF is holding it in. Cant see anyting so I start to hammer it out. Then I see it. The little screw for the scope stop is about 1 micron too long and putting just enough pressure on the piston to make it only occasionally fire Ended up gouging my piston seal trying to get the piston out in the process.
Anyone got a spare seal they they want to part with |

So what was the problem?
You'll have to order a Quest piston seal as the Phantom seals are not available yet as far as I know. |

Speaking of seals- Mar, are you suggesting there are two different seals being used on these Crosman's- i.e. one for a Quest and a different one for the Phantom? I hadn't studied them.
As for the scope stop screw going through the tube- I did have that problem now that I think about it- I filed it down quite a bit to get the piston through, but I can't remember if I made it completely flush with the tube or not. It wasn't causing a firing problem- but was getting the piston hung up when I disassembled the rifle the first time. |

Well I can't say for sure but I sure hope the Quest work with the Phantom as I have two ordered, if not then we are out of luck then till the Phantom seals are available. |

I thought you were suggesting there was a design change or something. I didn't notice anything, but I wasn't studying them at the time. As for size- they are the same, I used a genuine Quest piston&seal in place of the Phantom unit when I was fiddling. No problems (up until this power loss thing of course). |

The cocking arm was jambing against the pistion cocking slot. Guess I should have been more carefull when I was *trying* to clean up all the edges instead of making them worse
Good to know that the quest seals will probably fit. Have to order a couple up. |
