I was at my local gun shop today and noticed a 5 pack (with one missing) of Stoeger X-Hunt pellets. Hmmm, never shot them before. The owner (Tim) was up on the roof trying to find a leak so I asked his wife how much they were. She wasn't sure because they just came in and hadn't been priced yet. I looked around for a few minutes and Tim came in soaking wet but happy he had found the leak. I asked him about the pellets...

Here, take a tin and try them. See what you think. How much? I asked. Take 'em. You bought the gun here, that's the least I can do.

WOW! Thanks a lot! Nothing beats free! Very Happy

So, no scope yet on the RWS 48 and no piston seal yet for my FWB 124 so I'm not ready to test them yet.

Any opinions on Stoeger pellets? Inspection of them shows a pointed, well formed pellet. Skirts look uniform too. Made in Germany so they must be half decent.

When I shot my air rifle a lot, I shot Beeman and RWS exclusively and was always happy with either brand. These look like they are as well made as Beeman and RWS. The proof will be in shooting them though, was just wondering what you all thought.

Thanks

Bergy

Just guessing but the pictures and advertising look a lot like rebranded H&N

I would agree- there are only a couple of mentionable German pellet manufacturers- H&N and Dynamit-Nobel. H&N is the only one I've seen with a "copper coated" pellet like the Stoeger units- so I would think it is H&N.

It appears that Stoeger has also been offering "free" pellets for quite awhile now (about a year) with the purchase of one of their rifles. The current promotion is 5 tins of 'free' pellets when purchasing an X20 Suppressor rifle.

Speaking of Stoeger airguns- I am wondering how they are doing supporting their airgun product (?) They obviously started flogging them when the figured they could brand some Chinese product with their name and sell them through their regular firearms dealers.

I read a review of them last night and the author also thought they were H&N pellets. I've never shot those either...

Ceretainly they are in the group of "premium" pellets.

But as always it depends on whether your particular gun likes them.

I received the parts for my FWB 124 and got it back in shooting shape. I shot some of the Stoegers but not seriously enough to give an opinion yet. The jury is still out...

I tried the Stoegers out again in my FWB 124. Not too impressed at all... Only shooting at about 30 ft in my basement and the groups were around 1 inch. Bad for this gun. Many other pellets (RWS) will do one ragged hole. I think they'll be "break in" pellets for new rifles.
