Well, my boys started school this morning. My day started at 5:30 though, because I asked my wife to get me up with her this morning. I talked to her till about 6 then I got on the web to see what was going on. After it hit 6:45 I woke up my boys. God they were grumpy! I have a feeling there are going to be a few more rough mornings till they are used to it.
Tace got up upset because he was still very tired. He couldn't keep the tears down this morning. He keeps showing the little signs of depression, but nobody will listen to me when I take him to get his add meds each month. I have depression myself, so I can spot it pretty easily. When you have it, you just know when somebody else does too. It's almost like a dirty little secret you can see on somebody else's face.
Hunter didn't want to get up either, but he didn't cry, he just grumped about everything. I got hunter dressed, except for changing his socks. I had put healing lotion on his feet last night because he has several cuts and raw spots on his feet from not wearing shoes outside when he goes to play. I also put a pair of his favorite socks on his feet so that he would let the lotion just work. He wouldn't let me change him to fresh socks this morning and threw a fit when I tried. I can put shoes on him and they are off just as soon as he can get out to the swingset to pry them off his feet no matter how I double knot them.
I went ahead and fixed breakfast for the boys and I made toast with nutella. It's three dollars a jar, but it is healthy so I just cringe and buy cheap instant tea for me to drink instead. Tace tore it up. He ate four pieces all total, because Hunter wanted toast with butter so I fixed more toast with country crock.
Tace tried to get dressed after he ate, and it was a nightmare. His new shorts wouldn't fit with the belt on them. Then he started crying again and calling himself fat. This boy has enough problems already so I do my best to calm him down by saying mommy ordered those over the net so you didn't get to try them on to make sure that they were the right size. You didn't gain any more weight. I was able to take the belt off of them and then he was able to wear them.
We watched cartoons till the bus came and then I got Dimitri ready for his day. I washed his face and hands, took off his diaper and dressed him in his clothes and fed him poptarts because he doesn't like toast. He wears underwear during the day, but he sleeps so deeply that he has accidents at night even if I get him up with me.
He starts headstart on the 7th of september and he is special needs so he will be there from 6:30 to 3:30. He tries so hard, but everything is so difficult for him. It pains me to see him try so hard and not be able to accomplish what his brothers did at his age. It just breaks my heart. I hope that the program can get him caught up. My wife, who is a special ed teacher, thinks that he has a very low IQ. I think she is wrong, that we just don't know how to get through to him. We don't know how to teach him is my hope.
I got my boys on the bus and I am NOT going to wake them up as early tomorrow. We had it all done and ready to go in a half hour. I should be able to get them up at 7:15 and not have any problems getting ready in time. All in all it was a decent start to a new school year and it can only get better from here! |
