Unfortunately, in the last few weeks AOL has implemented a "free" email setup for anyone/everyone, similar to Yahoo mail, Gmail, etc. but they have also apparently not yet put in any sort of program to discourage automated spam systems from creating accounts and using them to spam websites such as AirGunHome.com. AOL has also opened up "free" AIM.com email addresses.
Until AOL implements better controls to discourage spam users on their email system, all new registrations using an AOL.com or AIM.com email address have been blocked from this site. Sad, but a necessity based on the hundreds of automated spam registrations here with AOL email addresses in the last few weeks.
I don't believe this affects anyone who had previously registered using an AOL email address- but if any issues pop up in respect to previously-registered members- please let me know. |

Update:
AOL addresses can once again register. The counter-measures for spammers implemented a couple weeks ago seem to be working better than anything else, so AOL.com registrations are now enabled again.
"AIM.com" registrations are still not allowed, however- anyone using an email from an Instant Messenger service isn't really serious in as far as I can determine (multi-layered disguise- i.e. an account at a free instant messaging service, and a free email on top of this- either someone is totally paranoid, or hiding their true email for other devious purposes- i.e. spamming). |
