I have finished restoring the first of the two Crosman 114s I purchased a while ago.... This one had a brass main tube, front sight, breech, barrel and fill fitting, and they were stripped to bare metal and polished.... The stock was stripped and then sanded down to bare wood, restained, and finished with seven coats of Dark Walnut Watco Danish Oil sanded with progressively finer wet/dry paper ending with 600 grit, and then three coats of Dark Minwax.... It has a gorgeous satin sheen with beautiful grain, and is soooooooooo smooth.... All steel parts were cleaned, stripped, and reblued with Van's Cold Blue which I have found far superior to Birchwood Casey.... The valve was modifed slightly to increase flow, as was the bolt.... The gun has a built in RVA and shoots over 600 fps (14.3 gr.) with it cranked in and under 500 fps at the lowest setting.... You can select anything in between to balance power and shot count to your requirements.... At the highest power setting, the gun does about 60-70 shots on a fill.... and as is typical for a CO2 gun the less time between shots, the quicker (and further) the velocity drops.... I added a male Foster as a fill fitting and the gun comes with a 9 oz. CO2 tank, fill adapter, and female foster.... I modified the fill adapter so that it bleeds off the CO2 in the Foster fitting when backed out all the way....
As you can see, the finished product is gorgeous.... I am continually stunned by the quality of the wood in these older Crosmans.... and how Danish Oil brings out the grain.... I ran into one strange thing when sighting in the gun.... it shot a LONG way to the right.... The barrel appears to be straight, but I actually had to modify the rear sight.... it is now a peep, offset significantly to the left.... The gun groups well, putting 5 shots under a quarter at 20 yards.... darn decent for iron sights with my tired old eyes.... The gun is registered, so a PAL is required.... The price including the CO2 tank/fill valve/Fosters (worth $60.00) is $350.00 plus shipping from BC.... If you are interested in this rifle, please PM me....
