Hello everyone!
I would greatly appreciate some help with this rebuild (my first).
I have two problems.
1. When re-assembled the pump arm does not go back flush with the stock!
this seems simple but i have looked and looked and i just don't see what it is hitting to make it not seat flush! it moves freely. and attempts to pump but does not go to flush.
2. when pumped, does not hold air but goes strait through valve and I can hear it come through breach port? or muzzle if cover is closed.
If there is already a thread on this, please direct me.
Many thanks for any help you can give me. I enjoy working with these air rifles and would like to learn as much as I can for future rebuilds.
This is for Crosman 147 |

The pump cup is likely hitting the end of the valve because it is adjusted too long....
The valve is leaking and you will have to take it apart and repair it.... it most likely needs a quad seal (assuming it's like the one in a 140)....

Wow! Awesome fast reply! Thanks.
I have disassembled and re-assembled several times and did shorten the piston rod but didn't appear to help. maybe I'm missing something. will look at that again. Funny though. It was fine before I first disassembled.
I bought a kit and replaced most seals (O-rings). I did not do the cup, but it seems to be useable for now. Has suction when pulled out and pumps air through when assembled. I did not replace the Quad seal as it seemed removing it would destroy it and I did not see anything in the kit that seemed to be replacements. Can You recommend a source for quad seal?
Had fun refinishing the stock. It is really a pretty little rifle.
Yes, is very similar to 140

3/16" x 5/16" quad seals should be available at a hydraulics shop.... Use an O-ring hook to remove the old one, clean the groove carefully, fold the new one and pop it into place....
Is it possible that the sear is not catching the "hammer" (cocking cylinder).... On the 140 the sear holds that forward, which pushes on a rod which pushes on the cup on the back of the valve.... after firing, a spring pushes all those parts forward again to re-cock the gun....
