Hi guys! I'm new to the forum & not very good on computer yet so please bear
with me! You all give excellent advice & seem very helpful to all.
I recently purchased a .22 Benji Trail NP (950 ft/sec) & love it(been 25 yrs
since I've had an airgun). Here's my dillema: After breaking it in (4-500shots)
I decided to clean it.After it's clean I realized that I used petroleum based
cleaner/oil.(cleaning kit for my deer/moose rifles)I KNOW!! I can just picture you guys holding your head in your hands screaming NOOO!! Severe brain cramp
on my part. I never touched the chamber, just the barrel. Have I toasted the
seal, or anything else for that matter? It still groups fairly well - 8/10 within 3/8"
@ 20 yrds freehand if I do my part. But seeing as I don't have a chrony yet, I
can't tell if I've lost any velocity. Even when I get one, I don't know what it was shooting before. Guessing somewhere between 7 - 750 ft?
Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks |

| If all you did was clean the barrel with it, you're probably ok. Take the breech seal out and clean it with alcohol and then lube with some silicone oil, and also, if you used any firearm barrel cleaner/solvent on the barrel- clean it out- it is typically acidic and the rifling in airgun barrels doesn't do well with it (nothing to "burn" off using an acid-based solvent). If it was just oil you got in the barrel, not a problem. If you got oil in the chamber, then that's a different matter entirely... |

| Ya you should be O.K. if you only cleaned your barrel. If you did that to the Chamber, you would have been toast. |

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I figured the barrel itself was ok, just
wasn't sure about seals or any residual oil . Just paranoid I guess!
Took 50 or 60 shots before my precious nascar race today & everything seems
fine.
On a separate note Eric, I have a post on this forum about trying to find infomation/parts for a Crossman 38 T that you can delete if you want.Getting
a little braver on computer & found more information than I need!
I apologize for clogging up space here without doing more homework first
