When I come to this site I'm getting a virus warning from Norton.... Any idea what's going on?....

I'm having the same issue, no matter whether I come in from the bookmark on my computer or through Google. Looks as if there is a problem. |

Crap host provider was compromised (database was not, fortunately, so no one's email addresses got out)- I have changed to a different service which should provide a faster, more secure hosting service. |

Hey Eric? Now I am getting a 500 server internal error half the time when I try to open up the forum. I can only get there from the banner on the main page. THe banner at the bottom of the start page. |

I believe your browser has not yet "flushed" the old pages out of its cache yet. Try going to the page and hitting "reload" a couple times and see if it changes. It does appear to be good now.
Also- the bonus to all this is that a) I managed to grab the complete database before everything crashed down, and the complete avatar directory- so no posts or any information got lost b) this host provider is a "semi-dedicated" shared service, not the free-for-all "shared" service as before so, at least as it appears to me, things are now blazingly fast loading up.

On another note: It also appears that by virtue of being around for a few years now, and having (apparently) a crapload of "lurkers"- the previous host provider was claiming that we were being indirectly targeted by hackers. We were one of the largest 'clients' on their shared server. Apparently, big bandwidth usage draws attention by automated website malware- and it hammers away at a website/service until it finds a weakness- up until yesterday, the intrusions were relatively minor and easily resolved.
That being said, if the host provider had been doing their job properly, yesterday's 'invasion' could have been stopped before it got started. Perhaps the idea here was they stopped doing their job well in order to have something like this occur and then try and convince me to "upgrade" the package. Unfortunately for them, I already had an upgraded backup in my back pocket. Ha! |

Merci, merci, mon capitaine. Without Airgunhome, last night the only alternative was to watch hours of Virginian reruns with She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed. We're both nursing colds so the conversation was lively indeed. I'm happy you got it worked out. |

Excellent, rapid follow-up!! Well done!
This makes the second airgun forum to which I subscribe that has suffered some sort of cyber-attack. On the one hand, that sucks. On the other, given the suggestion that lots of activity invites such attacks, I really like the idea that airguns are so popular that lots of folks are jumping in! |

Nice work Eric, you were certainly quick on the trigger. Plus the site does load fast.

Just an "FYI"- the system being offline for an hour or two earlier (this morning) was me, not the host provider. Seems the friggin' hackers really love us lately- so I was installing a bunch of (hopefully effective) defenses and things went offline for a bit.
Maybe it's time to give that bulletin board software change some more thought... |
