| As Many of us know Gamo bought out BSA some time ago.I wasn't ever thinking of buying another Gamo due to IMO unscrupulous marketing tactics that left a bad taste in my mouth. However I've been eyeballing the Dynamax PCP,as I've heard it's just basically a BSA sportsman HV,with a scorpion stock...branded a Gamo?Sounds like a great deal, and a high quality rig for around 400 bones through P.A.I don't really know anything about BSA's.Anyone have any input/own a Dynamax/BSA out there? What about build quality, and accuracy?Any issues with reliability etc....thanks. |

Later models have been having issues but if they're UK made and assembled they're good to go.
I owned a BSA Lightning which was pretty good.
Also, note that the knob in front of the stock is the thing that cocks it. |

You either like the knob on the front or hate it; personally I think it makes cocking messy.
But I do think that a UK assembled Lightning or Sportsman are as good as any other quality rifles, the machine tools that make the parts are the same ones that were transferred from the UK, so the quality of the parts is the same. And the reason some are assembled in the UK is that air gunners over here would not buy Spanish assembled one.

Thanks for your insight guys.I still don't know quite what to think about that front cocking knob...it is different, and would take some getting used to for me.I'm so used to releasing a standard bolt slowly while uncocking, that it would be weird at first. That's exactly why I miss the old Beeman store that was 6 miles from me which closed when the company was sold in 1993.It was so nice to be able to test any rig you may be interested in at their indoor range.Oh well...still time to contemplate as I don't have the cash for a new rig just yet.I have that typical air gunners itch...I already have what I need, but I am dealing with the problem of what I want.... |

I own a Gamo DynaMax .177 and really like it and don't mind the cocking system. I previously owned a BSA Ultra M/S which had the same cocking system but I found it uncomfortable with cocking mechanism being so close on the short stock.
The DynaMax is also very loud and requires a moderator
The DynaMax is bargain priced and comes with a scope mount and a 3-9X50 scope although I later switched it for a Bushnell Banner 4-12X40AO.
It is accurate and I like the synthetic stock.

| The stock is the BSA Tactical stock. It's pretty good. |

That is a very nice rig...
I really like the fact that it is a somewhat compact carbine style air gun.I did hear it is somewhat heavy for it's size, but that is not an issue with me at all,as I'm a big guy,and would have no problem packing it around in the field all day.I do love the light weight of my Benjamin Discovery, but am looking for a repeater.Right now it's a toss up between the Dynamax, and a Marauder, for my next rig.
My 40th birthday is this coming Friday,so I have a great excuse for a new toy..... |
