Just got the Daisy Winchester M14 and seems like a nice gun. Took it to an indoor shooting range yesterday and it did pretty well. I was shooting a paper target about 10in.x10in. with a red bullseye that's about 2 inches across and at 30 feet which seemed about right. I did fairly well at that distance.

Next I moved the target to 40 feet and got to wondering if I should keep the same target or use a larger one. I guess at some point or distance the further out you go the larger the target should be. I'm wondering how far out you should go with a 10inx10in and a 2 inch bullseye or at what distance do you start on larger targets?

Maybe I should just stay at the 30 foot distance? The guns seems pretty accurate but only shoots about 700FPS.

You don't need to increase the target size unless you're having trouble seeing the bullseye. If you want to really stretch the range of the rifle, all you really need is to put a scope on it.

Thanks Mod90...the rifle doesn't have any rails to mount a scope so I have to use the sights on the gun. I'll keep using the same targets then and thanks.

I had a chance to look at the same rifle about a week ago, I liked it. It's a good looking replica, to bad they didn't use wood and metal though. BB Pelletier did a review on it and gave it good marks for accuracy. It would be great if you could post some pic's.

I took it to an indoor range the other day and it did well. I am going to make a video and post it on youtube maybe today or tomorrow so keep an eye open. I'll check out that review you mentioned and thanks.

Any chance you'd be interested in modifying it to add a rail? It's not difficult.

These targets are scaled from NRSA masters. There is a good proggression from 30 feet through to 100 feet

Hi Mod90...it's possible I might want to add a rail depending on what would need to be done. I might get a bipod that clamps to the barrel.

OK...I posted a video on youtube today. Not any shooting just a video of the gun and some targets I shot at the range. Just do search for Daisy Winchester M14 or something along those lines.

I'm going to upload more videos of this gun...shooting tests and stuff like that. It's really a very cool gun and I think it will compete with the Crosman M4 and most other rifles in the 650-700FPS range...just gotta get some video out so people will know about it.

I thought I'd revive this thread....
A friend of mine has this same rifle (he is into the replica air guns) He pointed out the fact that this is a very accurate replica and is actually set up for a scope mount. There is a threaded metal insert in the side of the receiver, just like on the actual M14. This hole is a metric thread but it is in the right place. I found a cheap M14 scope mount on line and purchased it for him. Using a metric bolt in place of the mounting bolt that came with the mount it bolted up like it was meant for this rifle. It now sports a Weaver style scope mount that is more than solid enough to mount a scope on.
BTW, the guy that owns this rifle called Daisy to ask about the threaded hole for the scope mount, the "engineer" he talked to had no idea there was even a threaded hole in the receiver and told him a scope couldn't be mounted on the rifle. You would think someone given the title of "engineer" would be knowledgeable about the products the company he works for sells.... Rolling Eyes
