I picked up mine at the gun show in Emmett, ID and man is this thing comfy.
You wear your rifle like a back pack and when it's time to shoot. You slip your non-dominate arm out of the sling while holding the rifle with our dominate hand, spin it around and if you have the straps adjusted just right, It holds the butt stock to your shoulder all in one quick motion.
They also make a Quick Disconnect model but thanks to high school ROTC training, spinning the rifle came so naturally that I opted out on the QD model.
Two thumbs up on fit and function
These are made in Emmett, ID and the nice thing about going to the gun show is I got to meet Gary the owner of the company. He also runs the IVH club. (Idaho Varmint Hunters). I will be attending my first club meeting in October. These guys do more than just talk the talk. There have several organized hunts & tournaments through out the year.
The slings and many more products are available on their website.

I tried a couple of those years ago and found them to be very awkward and
hard to access your gun.
I use just the opposite now. It keeps your rifle in front, ready to use in an
instant. It is just like the seals use. Very convenient.
You should check it out. They make accessing your rifle very fast and easy
because it is right there in front, by your hands. Just reach down and
grab it and you are good to go. No fumbling around reaching behind you. |

I always carry my deer rifle the way I my Dad learned to in Korea... Regular shoulder sling, but a bit tighter than you would like, on your shoulder muzzle up. If you're shaped enough like a man (dad would say), it will stay on your shoulder while you glass or access your backpack over the other shoulder. When the time to shoot comes, you just grab the low grommet and drop/rotate the gun around your arm, bringing it directly to shoulder and shoot. I watched him get on a lot of deer fast that way, and rejoiced when I grew tall enough to do it myself. Always be aware of where your muzzle is pointed (i.e. who is behind you [what the hell are they doing there anyway?]) and don't hollywood it, and it is a safe and very fast method. |
