The range will be ten yards or less. I have a Super Streak and am looking for a cheap gun ($100 max) and yet accurate enough to help improve my shooting. Should I stay with a springer or go pneumatic? I would prefer something quiet and in a 0.22 cal. but am open to suggestions. I was thinking about a springer hand gun but the prices are over what I want to spend. Maybe a IZH 53M Air pistol by IZH-Baikal or a Crosman 1377C even though they are 0.177 cal. What do you guys shoot in your basement? For $100.00 you can get a new 2240 and an LDC .....you can adjust it down, get lots of shots and have a blast in your basement...In warm/hot weather you can use it for plinking and even some hunting... I was looking at the 2240 but don't want to get into CO2. Was thinking of modding it to compressed air though, just don't know how...yet. Since you have $100.00 budgeted for pistol...you can forget about converting a 1377 to >22--to do that would cost more than the gun did...and to convert a 2240 to "compressed air" is the same story..unless you were ro find a used one on the "yellow classified"..I see all sorts of stuff on there..it is the MECCA for buying/selling/trading air gun stuff _________________ HEY !! This getting old thing is NOT for sissies...   Posted: Tue Nov 16, 2010 7:58 pm walter Veteran Member Joined: 12 Nov 2010 Posts: 181 Location: towson md. my stock 1377 will do 3/8 ctc 5 shot groups at 60 feet. it would be a great gun to sharpen skills, exspecially with the stock in place. it cost 55 dollars and can shoot as low or high as you want for your 10 meter indoor range. what else could you want? makes sense to me. _________________ modified 1377c. first gen. Did you miss the part about having only $100.00 to spend?? The HW30 is considerably more than that, is it not? Also to be considered is the NOISE factor...any spring powered gun is going to be much louder than a CO2 powered one, because of confined space/echo !! _________________ HEY !! Yup, I read it, but you know me, I never buy new. Should have said so though, my bad. A used one of course! Probably still over a 100 dollars but the feel of quality makes up for it. And it's match grade accurate. Best open sights on an Air Rifle you can get too. _________________ BIG GAP   Posted: Thu Nov 18, 2010 7:15 am Crosman140 Senior Member Joined: 13 Dec 2008 Posts: 663 Location: USA If you want quiet and don't care about having a safe-queen, look at a good ol' Daisy 880. A very quiet shooter. It's a multi-pump, but very easy to pump. It will take small birds and small game too. But, it's .177. About $55 at Wally World. If you want to sling a lot of lead down range, the pumping of a pump rifle can get tedious. Then, I would recommend a springer like the Crosman G1 Xtreme. Again, it's in .117, but a single break of the barrel and your ready to shoot. The first few rounds sound like a .22lr, but then they quiet down to just a 'twang'. $100 at Wally World and Dick's. The Crosman 1377 is a great little gun too. And just look at all the modding you can do when you're not shooting it. Slap on a shoulder stock and you have a micro-carbine. $55 at WW. For basement shooting, you really don't need a .22cal gun. I'm leaning towards the crossman 1377. The only reason I wanted .22 is because my Super Streak is in .22 and I have a lot of different pellets that the gun doesn't like and I would like to use them someday, instead of them just gathering dust.
