Most piston air guns require different types of optics and scopes, because of the different type of recoil, so I've been led to believe.

However, I'm wondering if this applies to the PCP guns, like the Benjamin Marauder. Not having moving pistons and plungers, it would seem to be more like a firearm, than an airgun, when it comes to recoil, which is almost neglegent.

Can I safely use my red dot, from another of my firearms, on this PCP pistol? I would prefer not to have to buy yet another red dot, since I have so many already. But I also don't want to damage one, if that can happen.

I think your fine to use the scope of your choice on a pcp.

I agree wholeheartedly. They are so tame that you can put any type of glass on them. That is one thing PCPs have going for them.

Also I'm sure red dot sights are as critical as scopes anyway. Springers not only recoil backward from a firearm they have a sort of double, back and forward recoil. They can break down the internals of a firearm scope. I wouldn't swear to it, but I'm not sure it's so much of a problem for red dots.

Kind of what I figured. Glad that is the case. I have several kinds of EOTech scopes and another red dot that is very compact. Will save me from having to buy something else. Thanks,

I never used a red dot on a springer only on a co2...so, not sure. I did use a standard shock proof scope on a springer for a while and had no trouble. But it voids the warranty and so on so, I wouldn't recommend it.

There is no recoil per se on pumpers, Co2 or PCP airguns- the requirement for a scope for "airguns" applies to spring-powered products (a strut-powered gun is also a spring of sorts)- the Marauder is not spring powered, so you should have no issue. If Eotech or anyone else voided a warranty as a result of use on a PCP pistol- this would be something to note and they obviously have no idea what they are talking about and/or will not service much of anything under warranty.

Red Dot sights on air rifles are just fine. I had a 1x30mm AD-30 on my CF-X for 4 years. No worries. It eventually made it's way onto a Gamo 1250 Hunter magnum, for short range Possum shootin' . Again no worries. Red Dot sights dont have multi-plex reticles, and other such glass bits that break under hard recoil. I have enough confidence in Red Dots, that if my Patriot did not have a scope, I'd get one (dot) for it. Now that's saying something...... Cool

Good Idea, Red Dots are great. A good shooter with a good dot can hit right where he/she wants . As accurately as a scope up to mayde 30 metres. More if the actual dot is small and sharp enough.
One thing that may become an issue, is switching back and forth between 2 optics on the same rifle/pistol. Alot of re-zeroing may be required after putting each one back on. However if that is something thats not an issue for you..... go for it.

Well, I'm going to try this for a while. I have an EOTech mounted on the rear of the rail and a laser in the front. I can use the laser for close pointing and the EOTech for longer shots. The laser is sighted for 15 yds and the EOTech to 30. I have a smaller red dot sight, but it sits too low to allow the laser to be used simultaneously. I also have a scope but I'm going to give this a try for a while.

Nice Pistol! I really enjoy red dots, i havent paid more then $60 for a red dot yet. And its amazing what one can do, with these devices. I have my first red dot (tasco) on my Benji Trail NP AW and now a UTG on my alecto.
