I purchased a Whisper DX for my son, and I just saw a post from someone regarding trigger issues with these guns. Is this a common problem with them and something that should cause me to return it and get something else, or should I keep it? Just want to make sure I made the right choice here since I don't have that much knowledge about these guns.

Keep the gun. Your trigger doesn't have the greatest "feel," and it's hard to adjust - but it works. It's the same trigger design used on the Chinese B18/B19, and a whole slew of Crosman guns (G1, Phantom, etc.)

Yours is a so-called "two-stage" trigger. The lighter first stage is actually the trigger swinging through space without touching anything. The adjusting screw partially disengages the sear so that when the trigger finally makes contact, it's nearly ready to go off. That also means that if you adjust the second stage too close to the point of release, the sear is always "hanging by a thread." Give yourself a little margin of safety and adjust it so the second stage is felt well before release.

If you have the older style metal trigger (the newer ones are plastic) the GTX and GTR triggers will transform the gun for $40.00. It will take upwards of 1,000 rounds to completely "break-in." If you like the gun then go forth and be safe, fling lead, and report back to us on your exploits.

Also, look into the "artillery hold" for your son, and teach him to always hold the barrel open with one hand while loading Smile

hi..
The chances are its a plastic trigger model..not much that can be
done with them...But Charlie has a the new GRT4 trigger getting close.
Should make a big diffrents... Cool
