I need a scope mount and rings for a Diana 52. I have a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 AO scope and was wondering what the best mount setup for it would be. I have heard that the RWS lockdown mount can have a tendency to shear off the screw that sticks up on the scope mount. I was looking at the Leapers mount for my gun which has droop compensation and was wondering if this was a good mount for my gun. Also I was wondering what would be the best weaver style rings (Both Brand and Height ) for my application. |

Not very sure what's best available but I personally would go for some normal sturdy rings, but then again I used mine with a cheap scope, so I could get an easy replacement if it broke. I am unfamiliar with the Hawke series.
It never broke though. |

You are going around in circles- all the mounts you have mentioned are "droop compensating" which is a waste-of-money "feature", period.
Any set of Weaver rings with 4 hold-down screws on each cover and enough "meat" in the body to not flex are adequate.
As you have a Hawke Scope, go with Hawke rings: http://www.hawkeoptics.com/us/mounts/fixed_weaver.php
HM7211 look promising.
Or, forget the droop-mount and just get a single-piece dovetail mount: http://www.hawkeoptics.com/us/mounts/fixed_9-11mm.php

The Hawke mounts have proven to hold up, the "droop compensator" mounts are just a gimmick to separate people from a few extra dollars. |
