Aside from the trigger mount laser, does anyone know of a mount that just acts like a clamp, or any other idea on how you could mount a laser on a gun like the daisy 617x? The top part lifts up to insert the mag like on a PT80, and i would like to mount it under the barrel. Gotta be some way i would think. I don't like those trigger mount lasers for a few reasons including the likelihood they will move too easily. Plus i already have a laser i'd like to use.

If the frame is metal, then you could easily drill/tap and put a picatinny under the barrel. |

If it's plastic you could epoxy a plastic rail onto it. |

That would be exactly it... a screw on picatinny. Just need the holes.
Maybe a Beeman P1 would work for you. If your wallet is fat enough for a hole that big. Then put some Crimson Trace grips on it. The P1's have a 1911 gripframe, so you could put any 1911 grips on there. |

P1 is certainly a way to go. A fine air pistol if ever there was one. |

that could be the ultimate and still i wouldn't buy it ! Thats a lot more than i would ever pay, but unlike most here i mainly see a airgun as a rat removal tool. true, i do enjoy the hunt, but i cannot justify that kind of $ when a gun for less than a 5th will do. Heck, my C11 almost does the job well enough. If it shot pellets and at the same velocity as BB's i'd just keep using it.
I guess i will have to think more about this because it doesn't look like it's going to be something i can really determine w/o holding it in my hand and seeing just what is possible. |

You could make a mount out of JB Weld that would hold the laser and mold it to the underside of the barrel whether it is metal or plastic. Once it is dry then you mount the laser to the mount you made and if it doesn't quite fit you can file the JB Weld until it does fit. |

I have a concern with JB weld. If the epoxy is applied to paint, then it's only as strong as the bond between paint and metal. Or whatever other coating is applied, no? |

thats actually not a bad idea, tho not exactly as described....i would rather use a mount as discussed earlier and JB weld it on. That would look much cleaner. theres no paint because it's polymer plastic as far as i know. What i could do is put one of those small picatinny mounts i linked above under the barrel with some JB, then strap it in place tight with something like some tie wraps. Then add the laser and line the lazer up with the sights by sighting down them and pulling the laser into position where it aims at the same place as the open sights. I should first make sure the laser's height and windage adjustments are in the middle tho.
The only issue with that is that the gun's top and bottom are rounded, so it would be slipping all over trying to get it right. Maybe some of those mount might have a rounded bottom, who knows. I think the one i has for a .22 rifle once did. But thats a good idea i think. This makes it more likely i may head on over and pick one up tomorrow. i'll have to sleep on it. I do hate doing that to a brand new gun tho. Bothers me they didn't have that on the gun in the first place. it only takes a couple grooves molded into the plastic. |

If you ruffed up the surface before applying the JB Weld then it wouldn't slid around much and you could always make a wooden mount to hold the gun so it was steady and brace the JB Weld so it didn't move while it cured. Also the ridge that are on the bottom will keep it from moving towards the trigger guard. |

Tape and popsicle sticks or the like to hold the mount square while the glue dries. If you don't have a flat surface on the bottom, maybe the sides of the gun are flat so you can put flat strips against them and let them extend to the sided of the piece of rail.
As an aside, I don't have the same confidence as you (deadrats) in laser sighting. Particularly with airguns that have a more 'rainbowed' trajectory. I just don't see them as being as precisely point of aim= point of impact. I'm not trying to be critical of you or your aproach to rat killing, a passtime I've done more than a little of with pistol and with long gun. I usually have used open sights with a flashlight for pistol ratting in the dark, and scope or open sights with rifles. I just find that the laser is less effective for me than 'traditional' shoting. Different strokes, as they say. |

Well, we all have different taste and for whatever reason some things work better for one person than the other. The dot of the laser has worked extremely well for me with the C11, much better than when i was using it with open sights. |

look at this. As far as i can tell the mount works in a gun with no mount. Tho it looks like it's not covering enough gun to hold on, but it also looks like the gun has no rail or anything else there so i dunno. But the laser looks real quality with a low price to boot. I don't need the laser, just the mount. But as quality as it looks and the price so cheap what the heck. See link to the page under the pic.

She's a beauty.
Is it a shadow, or is the slide a 2-tone? |
