Are there any air powered arrow or dart shooters? By dart I mean something more serious than the little 177 darts like you shoot from a GAT at a dart board, I'm meaning dart.

I'm thinking about maybe making a barrel that would shoot blowgun darts or maybe something that will shoot crossbow bolt sized arrows. I'd like to know what's out there and what's been done before I reinvent the wheel. Looking through the Airgun Blurebook I didn't see anything that jumped out at me, except the one that shoots arrows made out of soda straws. I though that was a great idea and lots of fun, but not quite what I want to put together.

Just curious, what would you use this for, if ya found or built one?

Anywho...any gun that could fire darts would need a smooth bore. IMHO, the dart's flights wouldn't work and play well with the lans/grooves of a pellet type gun. Of course I could be wrong.

If you do choose to scratch build one, make it .50 cal. Those smaller darts are worthless. Way to light. I built my own 6' long blow gun a few years back using 1/2 emt conduit. Even made my own darts. (never do that again! every try holding x-acto blades on a doll rod while glue cures....took weeks for my fingers to heal!)

Good luck!

Jax

There are air powered dart guns because they use them to subdue animals.

That's pretty cool right there. If and when this comes back to the top of my "to do" list that's along the lines of what I have in mind.
