Turns out Rico could not stand the stress of the changes from the freedom of being off leash to going to living in a neighbor hood... Better me than my Grand Daughter...

He was getting a bit snippy with the other dog and becoming very moody...

Today he snipped at the pup and I went to pop him on the nose... and he turned on me...

Thank God he did not hold on... Just a quick deep bite and he cowered back...

5 stitches on the outside and don't know how many on the inside...
He severed the main vein that runs through the inside of my elbow sending blood gushing and spitting... I had to stick my finger in the wound to control the bleeding till the paramedics got here... That vein is now forever tied off...
Looks like there is muscle damage... will know more with the follow up Dr. visit on Sunday.

Amazing thing is.. there is only a scratch on the back side of my arm where his lower fangs landed....

For now... My Fore arm and bicep muscles is all swollen and I can not move my arm with out intense pain...

Thank God my new friend Christy was here... She is a CNA and administered First Aid and call the ambulance... She will be staying overnight to keep an eye on me till the kids get back from CA tomorrow night.

Animal Control came and got him soon after I got back from the ER... He will be destroyed...

Some prayers or good thoughts would be nice...

Dang Joe, what a downer. Neutral It's really sad to hear that.

Been there too, being bit at by our old dog back when I was a kid, though that was mostly my own fault for pissing him off. I was a kid and I messed a bit with him but seemed he didn't really like that.

We didn't have him put down because it was nothing severe, and it was partly my fault but it would've been close or I would've indirectly killed the dog with my misbehaviour.

Hope you heal soon Joe, and not just the scars on your arm. Neutral

I had a hard night sleeping... but since now that I am awake... I am able to stretch my arm and it feels tolerable. Soooo... I decided not to take the pain meds...

Thanks guys for the prayers and kind words... They do make one heck of a difference.

When I got bit by one of my dogs when I got between them in a fight, the puncture on my arm stayed sore for a long time afterwards. There was a hard cyst or something under the skin from the bite. It went away after a year or so. I never got angry at my dogs. The fight started when Girly licked Manny's teeth and wanted him to do the same for her ( this happens almost every morning), he didn't and she went mad and started biting him. Yeah, dobermans have their quirks. Girly died a couple of years ago. Manny's into his 14th year and still healthy.

I know he's been stressed with all the changes... But I can't take a risk with my grand daughter...

I tried to take a nap this afternoon... that only made things worse... so I mixed up some Medicinal Margaritas...

All the best and get well soon Joe, it’s difficult having a dog put down but when it turns into a wrong un there’s no other choice. Lets hope it doesn’t affect you engineering skills.

Al

i gotta say. personally, losing him will be worse than the bite. having once punched a dog in the head twice as hard as i would a person for almost killing my duck, once it happens you can't trust them.

if any big dog attacked me and i had my .45 in my pocket.... easy answer.

thank god it wasn't your grand daughter...

Hey Kanyon,

We are working on a CNC project for one of the local guys to run for us... I sure wish business would pick up some more so we can afford to run it....

Anyhoot... The medicinal Margaritas did the trick... I was able to take a nice nappy.... Whoooot!
