I've been working on a target stand for a few weeks, have that nearly complete. Now I need to start thinking about a stable bench.
I know this is somewhat subjective to each's own shooting style, taking concideration your hieght, and other numberous varibles. I just know the table I'm using now is not cutting it. It's too low. If I lower my chair so that my back is more comfortable I feel like my knees are in my chest.
I do have some ideas on how to make the table height adjustable, so if I take it outside and the ground isn't level, I can adjust out for that. I just need a solid starting point to go from.
Next, I'd like to make my gun rest more stable. I bought one of those Predator shooting rests that can be use for both pistols and rifles. It was a bit annoying while trying to sight my kt in, that one slight bump on the rest and it'd slide around a bit on the table I was using, even with it's rubber feet! I figure this can easily be taken care of with a few bags of shell shot. But what about a way to strap or tie down the gun on the rest? And still be able to work it?
Beyond that, are there any "I wish my bench had....." ideas? Ya know, like, drink holder or such?
Thanks,
Jax |

Build it.
Would not be hard to drill some holes and bolt down your rest. I think the high dollar rests usually have some kind of velcro straps. |

No golden, delicious, carbonated beverage holder? No gun-porn holder? What kind of bench is that... The rest itself looks awefully flimsy. |

With those spot lights, maybe a generator would be more appropriate. Then jerry can mounts for the fuel would be needed. |

Ipod...yeck! Apples are best used to make pie with. And Mac's are best served with cheese on them! Gimme a place to stuff a small lap top and my portible usb drive (1T) and I can bring along my whole cd collection. (over 2000 cds)
Although I have to admit, I do like the idear of the seat swivling with the rifle rest. Mind you where joe is apply his to whistling pigs (do they fly too?) I'd apply mine to bunny hunting. If all goes well, I'll be moving in another month. Plan is to create a bunny friendly area by planting clover for them to munch on and having dense bushes to hide in from dogs, foxes, teridactils. |

I personally wouldn't suggest doing so. Rabbits are a pest, no? Why would you want to help thrive a non-native species? |
