Hello Fellow Forum Type bods
I have heard that quite a lot of HW100 owners remove the barrel band 'O' ring to make the barrel fully floating.
What is the purpose of removing the 'O' ring?
Surely it is fitted to keep the barrel from moving and taking the weight from the action block and the small grub screw that holds the barrel in situ.
Am I missing something here?
Wouldn't the barrel be more susceptible to being knocked out of alignment without the 'O' ring fitted?
Any insight / advice greatly appreciated |

Probably not the best idea on a field gun. But for target shooting only, then free floating the barrel has its advantages.
Any flexing of the tube, or other parts will not influence the movement of the barrel. Also it allows the specific harmonics of the barrel to do their thing freely. This uninhibited movement and lack of flexing from pressure, is proven to increase accuracy. Of course the question must be asked, how accurate can it really be? On that particular gun (the one in your hands) it may make the world of difference, or barely do anything.
