Well it took about 30 shoots, a bunch of messing around with the scope, a few beers and presto! I figured out my barrel is bent. I guess this is what I get for having the old perform gunsmithing for me! I can't for the life of me figure out how after 20 odd years a barrel just bends. Well I have been working on my telekenitic energies and Jedi skills!
I searched the net and found some in the US for around $160 + shipping, exchange, duty etc. (well over $200), but I was then lucky to find a gun shop about 1.45 hours away with a new barrel for $85! So off I go tomorrow, the grackels and starlings will have to wait.
Has anyone had anything similar to this happen? |

In other words, pulled the trigger while the barrel was down.
Isn't "bear trap" something that'll only happen with a side or under lever, for as far as the bear-trappyness goes? Sure you can get your fingers between the breech and the housing with a break barrel but then you must be actually bargaining for it.  |

| Hmmm, possible as when he first put it back together he could not cock it, sludge had built up in the cylinder not allowing the piston to cock (my terminology may not be 100% correct) and it could have flung up. Now to get him to admit it! And of course pay for the barrel! |

just bend it back...its no drama & the
barrels are very soft...won't take a lot of pressure..

| What does the breech seal look like? Some of my airguns that have been in storage for a long time end up with squished breech seals that give the barrel an upward angle , so it'll shoot high with a scope. If the breech seal is new and sticks out too much, it'll give the barrel a droop and will shoot high using a receiver mounted open sights. |
