Obviously I'm new here, I like the forum so far and there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people around. I was just hoping that someone could answer a question I have about the Crosman 1760 SE rifle. After hours of searching the internet I still cannot figure out where this rifle is made. This is important because I have had bad experiences with Chinese made guns and I really do not want another one. So if you have a 1760 SE, does it say anywhere on it or on the box "Made in China" or "Made in USA" or anything? Also, I've read a lot of good reviews on this rifle, in fact I haven't seen a bad review on it yet. So if you own one, what do you think of it? But in my opinion the quality is roughly the same as some Chinese models. Yes, the 1760 is made at Crosman's factory in upstate New York. Surprisingly- all the parts are made there- the tubes, barrels, stocks- everything. _________________ ` I'd say "I care." Also a Crosman Authorized Service Center- so occasionally I have occasion to go to East Bloomfield to irritate them. Had a tour in February of the factory and I was actually surprised they were making tubes and barrels and such in-house (Co2 caplets and pellets also) I had assumed it would all have been "outsourced" to a company dealing in this sort of metal work. _________________ ` I'd say "I care." Thanks for the replies, and thanks especially to AirGunEric for telling me what I wanted to hear. I have an old Crosman 760 pumpmaster. It's a 25th aniversery edition with wood stocks and rifled barrel. It's 20 or so years old and still going. It just needs some oil from time to time to keep the seals sealing. What I was getting at is that I know what kind of quality Crosman used to have. I can only hope that their current guns are up to the same standard. That settles it though, I've been wanting a CO2 rifle for a while and I think I will put in an order for the 1760 next pay-day. New after market parts are readily available and you can convert it to PCP/HPA much like the Discovery for under a $100 down the road... I had a 1760 a couple years back...neat wee shooter I liked it..Only sold it bacause of Co2 being temp sensitive had to put it away in the winter 10c and below not really Co2 weather.. That is something that I will look into before next winter if not sooner because I know how CO2 is in cold weather. To be honest, I just blurt things out and they're usually right. Well, sometimes. I like the design of the QB78 over the 22xx series though, more sturdy and I guess meaty in my opinion. I got a QB78 and in comparison to the 22xx it's not as flimsy, but a lot harder to get some decent HPA parts for that don't make it look like a paintball gun.
