| Ok, just out of interest, all things being equal, about what group size is this gun capable of at around 30 yards? |

| I can get an inch and a half and I shake hard enough to thread a sewing machine while it's running. |

LOL!
I haven't bench sighted mine yet or finished testing different pellets and I'm getting 2" groups at 50 yards. |

Thanks for the replies (and hopefully many more to come).
My groups have shrank considerably, but I'm still getting a pretty big variation. Today managed a 0.5" group at 35 yards...and ended up with a 2" group with my next five shots.
Unfortunately, at this point, I'm not sure whether there's something not right with my rifle, scope, or whether I'm just not used to shooting a springer yet.
It seems I'll go out one day and think the Storm was the best hundred bucks I ever spent...then go out the next and end up wanting to set fire to the damn thing.
Guess I just need to shoot, shoot then shoot some more...then do some proper experimentation to see what it likes |

Don't be too hard on yourself..all airguns have inconsistentcys from shot to shot.
Remember to let out some breath..then hold it as you gently pull the trigger.
Use only the center of your fore-finger & pull straight back on the trigger.
Don't rush your shot.
Hold the fore-end at the balance point in the palm of your hand.
Focus on the spot you want to hit.
Take a shot & analyze what went right or wrong.
Get good at 10 yards. Then 20..
A good scope is a great helper!
A true "rifle" like a .22cal with bullets/gunpowder is generally better.
Any how..its all just fun to shoot something. |

Being a past StormXT owner, I can truthfully say, that it probably IS the best $100.00 you could spend on an airgun....It's that $$)&! artillery hold- it was something I could not do consistently. One evening I shot a big crow in the head...from 47 yards(I measured it with my surveyors tape) out , and about 40 feet up a tree-I thought that was a pretty darn good shot.....I knew I had it when I pulled the trigger, seriously! but other days I just couldn't get the breathing, aiming, holding, and squeezing all in unison.."MANLY PRIDE" was in my way, but evetually I was able to accept the fact that I probably would never be able to become a consistent spring gun shooter. I really liked the gun..I had skeletonized the stock, shortened the barrel by four inches and had run probably around 3000 pellets through it (can't remember for sure).
Storm has plenty of power, a better than average scope IMO, and is fairly easy to cock....just keeeeeep shooting it..mine HONESTLY did get different/better at around 800-900 rounds..hard to explain...it just did. So, shoot the hell out of it, have fun and be safe |

Well, at least at this point I have enough experience to know just from the 'feel' of the shot that the wild pellet it something I've done instead of blaming the rifle.
Although what would REALLY help is a scope with an adjustable objective....20/1800 vision and a fixed focus scope aren't the best combination. |

You should be able to correct for some of your optical problem with the focus ring on the eyepiece.... Look at a distant object, and without staring at the crosshairs adjust the eyepiece focus until it is as clear as possible....
Since you don't have an AO scope you may find a slight adjustment on the eyepiece focus will help at close ranges as well....

I've tried that.
At ANY range I have to make a choice between having my target slightly out of focus or my crosshairs slightly out of focus...and when my target is in focus at 30 yards, everything at 60 is almost too blurry to see.
and, nope, it isn't the scope...unless all six that I own have exactly the same fault. |

DUDE! Just installed the gtx gen II trigger, you want tight groups this thing is a must!!!
What you read is true, this thing is sweet and worth twice what i paid for it. I wish i would have ordered it weeks ago. I was getting decent groups before, the accuracy is much better now. Stackin premiers at 20 yards is very doable now! |
