Just about this time way back in February of 2009, it was announced by a fewllow agh member that we would soon be able to watch a show dedicated entirely to air gunning. This show called American Airgunner, premired in July of 2009.
And honestly, I didn't much care for it. I don't know what their plans are for 2010, if even the show has been picked up again. IMHO, unless they do some major revamping of the show, don't even bother with it.
First and foremost, you can read a dozen posts here on these forums in less time and learn more about air gunning then I did wasting my time watching this show. There is nothing I can think of that stands out that they mentioned on that show, that we haven't discussed, in better detail here that they did on that show.
I really need to question their logic on show topics. When a show has only a 30 minute slot on tv, you're at best getting 15-18 minutes of actual air time for that show. Why would you then spend half of that describing how you built your indoor range? Yes this might be fascinating to some, once the show takes off and all that...but not in the firs season!
Quality was rather poor too. The short video they had on the internet last year looked great! I'm wondering now, if they had to return the camera or something. I watch alot of fishing and hunting show. They're not Avatar quailty video, I know this and don't expect that...but ugh, there are few shows that are this bad, and usually we call those "infomercials".
And finally, they could have redeemed themselves, in my eyes at least. Had they actually had that red head from the website on the show! I could have watched her all day long! YUM!! (sorry I have a thing for redheads <evil>). Yeah, I know, they had that one young lady from "down the road" on the show a few times, but it just wasn't the same. <sigh>
very disappointed,

The show is sponsored by PyramydAir, and like virtually every other fancy airgun thing done in the past, is oriented purely towards pushing products. Why these shows are represented as anything other than infomercials I have no idea (started about 15 years ago with all the car fix-it-up shows).
Mind you, for someone totally unfamiliar with the concept of airguns, maybe it's not all bad... |

Are any of the episodes available online? Maybe its just me, but (based on the clip on their site) I just find it slightly insulting when guy shows tack on some buxom redhead just for ratings...I'm assuming we all know how to use the internet for our redhead video needs Also, the intro shows a deer being downed by something... |

You mean I don't have to drive the hour and a half to Minneapolis any more? When did that change?

I have that same complaint about the media in general. Many of the "niche" magazine titles are top heavy with product spotlights. You have to get into the really serious professional journals (eg., Science or New England Journal of Medicine) to get away from it. If you compare the NRA's American Rifleman from 30 years ago to today you'll see the same trend. |

Eric,
Yeah, I know it promoted PyramidAir, their main sponcer. But I do have to give them credit when it came to ag brands. They never over hyped one brand verses others.
Lip,
That clip of one of their "specialists" hunting deer with a .50 quakenbush is just a teaser. They hardly ever mention anything about hunting.
Nor do they mention very much about competition target shooting either. It's really bizaar if you think about it. They could have done so much with the show, but some how failed miserably. |

I guess deer isn't the only think a Quackenbush has taken down!

It has 550fpe; I guess when you get to that kind of energy though, perhaps the 1 ft/lb : 1 lb rule for hunting isn't necessary |

For God's sake...are you all incapable of SWITCHING THE CHANNEL!!!
I happen to like the program...it's not like there's a wealth of airgunning shows to choose from, and anything that promotes the sport at this point in time is good.
But you can't keep everyone happy all the time. |

| Do not get the outdoor channel on my cable company. But I have watched most all of the videos on Pyramid's web site. Some are better then others, and I think a story about how he built the air lodge would be pretty interesting. |

Land of Lincoln, the growing years, refers to the state just to the east of Illinois.
I wish I had the $ to buy land to set up my own air gun-or if I am dreaming- my own rifle range. |
