Hey folks!

I just got one of the Remakes of the Daisy Model 25 for my Birthday, and I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a FAQ or Guide for increasing it's power. I remember using my Dad's Model 25, which was ~30 years old when I got ahold of it, and it had a LOT more power to it than the new ones.
There's just something not right about seeing a BB bounce off a coke can when I can remember putting holes through metal coffee cans at twice the distance.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum!

All the usual things would apply - lubrication, adding washers to preload the spring more, replacing the spring, etc. After all that, you would still have a smoothbore BB gun, which is to say not too accurate. My advice would be to have fun with it as is for nostalgia's sake, and get a more modern pellet design if you need the power.

Welcome Skittius,
I've ordered one myself. I've heard mixed reviews about the power and it sounds like yours may be at the low end. You're right about the old guns having more power. I killed countless birds, lizards, snakes, and frogs with mine. I'd give anything to have my old bb gun back. When I get my 25 I'm going to tear it down and see what I can do to bring it back to it's original glory. The old guns were pretty darn accurate too within their limited range. I think reworking this old design will be a fun project. Teryx

::Grin:: Thanks for the responses! after the holidays I'll break it down and see what I can do with it. Already lubed it up, think I'll look into adding washers, seem to recall my Dad replacing them in his Fathers air-rifle when I was little. Will need to do some research on the springs though. =)
Heh, I'm not looking for home defense here, but it would be nice to have hitting a coke can at 30 foot be a matter of skill rather than dumb luck.

Thanks again!

I would start with deburring and polishing everything. Take advantage of what the existing parts can do and see what happens. I have no idea what is inside there. It would be interesting to see what they use for a barrel. If it is not a real barrel I'll get a crosman model 760 smoothbore and machine it to fit. I would imagine it is long enough. A good barrel, polished parts and maybe a little bump on the spring might just do the trick. There really is no reason that a smoothbore shooting good BBs can't be quite accurate. Some of the old patch and ball rifles were good to several hundred yards in the right hands.
