| Up until very recently, I was gonna give me a Crosman NPSS for Christmas, then I run across this site that does some insanely neat stuff with Crosman 2250XT's...this site is "Mountain Air"...Has anyone here done business with these folks? Bought an airgun? The more I look at that 2250 with all the mods/upgrades they can do, my decision on the NPSS gets weaker and weaker, ( I guess that's part of the price one pays for being a newbie, huh ??)ANyhow, what about Mountain Air? thanks, -Rodger |

have you pm'd yourdaddyjoe?
he's in northern california, mountain air is in southern california.
heard good things about MA. never been there, though i should.
not jacking your thread but joe took his own 2250 and basically made it
into an AR-15 (in looks) topping 15+fpe. he's done work for me as well. |

If not your going to go broke in a very short time replacing all the gas you will use.
CO2 is not cheap in America,if shooting is your pleasure then plan on spending a fortune in CO2 carts or even a large tank.At any rate you be refilling more than shooting,,
That gets real old and expensive in a very short time---Like one hour!
Get yourself something thats self contained for now, later you may step up to a PCP ,, But a CO2 will not put out nowhere near what a springer or a ram gun will do in power, and its as simple as recocking and shooting.

Yeah, I sent yourdaddyjoe a PM day before yesterday-have not heard back from him yet. I have a Crosman Storm XT, which is plenty powerful and self-contained being a break barrel. That is what made me decide on the NPSS..good power and less recoil, break barrel etc, etc. The 2250XT , in stock form, claims around 200 shots per cylinder. Even "jazzed up" I would think the 2250 would be capable of 75 +/- shots..I WOULD like around 700 fps, for quick clean kills (primarily squirrels-I live in the country, I have gazilliions of squirrels !!) At this point of airgunning, I don't see me ever having a PCP.. a rifle that has to have refills after 30-40 shots, and refilling requires going to where refill equipment was left... (expensive refills, I might add!) just doesn't appeal or make sense to me, at all. Just my opinion, not knocking guys that like 'em, it's just not for me. 75 shots (if possible with the CO2 ) would be plenty for an afternoon of squirrel hunting I would think..I could carry another cartridge just in case..much easier than going through the woods with a scuba tank. I have to admit ,even at my age, I really am taken aback by the looks of the 2250..maybe that's what has my heart pumping. The cost of the CO2 gives me food for thought, thanks for the post. Need to find out how many shots per cartridge I can expect to get, with increased output, before closing the door on NPSS, huh? |

hmmm. packrat you're a piece of putty.
filling a pcp (my maruader) takes about 10 seconds from my scuba tank.
(how many shots would you need when hunting)?
i get about 1500+ rounds on $7/air.
C02 IS very expensive to shoot a lot of.
personally i wouldn't mod a 2250 without going HPA (high pressure air/pcp). Co2 is very air temp sensative.
the npss hits around 730 fps/14.3. fine for your needs.
a spring/ram gun is the LEAST complicated to use compared to pcp/Co2.
and a year ago i too said i'd never have a pcp.
buy the npss. then do what i do.... keep buying more.
i have a.....
and i have a.....
and i have a..... and i have a.....
and i have a..... and i have a...... |

I think you meant to say that my mind is a piece of putty!!! I've been running back over why I had decided on the NPSS to begin with....it's really as simple as my spring gun..cock it and shoot, repeat as necessary. Truth be told for a squirrel hunt wouldn't need any more than 20 shots...one of 2250s I looked at gets 100 hard shots with one of the 88 gram bottles, but that IS about $6-$7 for 1 bottle so is WAY more expensive. I guess that no matter what your age is, it's possible to get all excited and want one of each of everything, which I'm thinking just might be the case here...I'm gonna take your advice and get the NPSS....probably the most logical/practical thing to do. I CAN see me having more airguns as time goes by, hell maybe even a pcp, who knows All I know at this point is that I'm more interested in this stuff than I have been, about anything, in a long, long time. Thanks guys for sharing your experience..helps us "putty heads" do right! |

Watched the short video on the Tech Force PCP...only $200.00 and it can use just plain ol' everyday air, if using the handpump Now this is waaaay better than having to go to a dive shop to get tank filled. Also through my searching have found that lots of guys use nitrogen and get like a tank with a gazillion refills for like $7.00, and that Bejamin/Sheridan makes a Discovery PCP for $260.00 . Neither of these have the magazine capability of the Marauder though..I'm thinking I need to look into the whole PCP thing..never paid it much attention, but that video has got both my braincells working |
