I'm not a big fan of the Red Dot myself. A tad to much to the overall picture, but I like the rear sight you put on there. Looks pretty pro to me. Maybe angle it from underneath a bit after you're allowed of the couch? |

Cheers Brutuz, thanks for the excellent service.
I'll get some Fps figures as soon as I can but at the moment I'm shooting between the rain drops.

Glad I could help Al
Might look good if you shroud it from the custom breech to the end |

I did think of that Brutuz but I want to incorporate a silencer which covers as much as possible of the barrel, to get the most effect with out making the overall length to long, the only problem is getting the Co2 cartridge in, unless I make it easily removable for changing the cartridge, this could possibly incorporate a barrel shroud.
I have made a new rear sight as the one off a Rohm pistol didn’t look right as Anton remarked about, the next thing thing on the agenda is a silencer.

Hey, I like that rear sight. I also like the black rail. It improves the visual balance. Very Feng Shui.
Now how about some nice wooden grips. |

I have a nice piece of wood for some new grips because the plastic will have to go, the only thing is that I have never made a set of grips before so it could be intresting.

I got the silencer made and fitted to day which makes a lot of difference for me, I can now test shot strings at home with out annoying the neighbours, also the silencer works very well just a slight phut and a click as the hammer goes down. I am going to make a new front sight out of brass to keep the brass theme going, the silencer body will be covered in black shrink tube, this looks nice, doesn’t scratch and helps to deaden any mechanical sound.
I have put an adjustable front sight on the silencer as I like to shoot with basic sights sometimes, the sight rotates left or right to give a bit of adjustment and with being right at the front of the gun and the rear sight right at the back the long distance between the two makes it very accurate, I am now getting 12mm groups at 15m.
I have replaced the trigger with one from Brutuz which is a lot better than the original, also Slavia if your around you posted a photo of mods done to a 2240 trigger a while back, the small photo is there but the enlargement is missing can you repost it, I’m looking for ideas.

Finished the silencer today, made a new front sight in brass and encased the body in black heat shrink.
Looking better.

I like it. What kind of wood are you gonna put on there? Something dark? |

I’ve got a lump of Mahogany somewhere in the workshop I was thinking of using that? I still have a new barrel band to make, a brass safety button and sort the trigger out,
I was going to do some shot strings today now the silencer is finished, but the more I turned up the power adjusted the more the fps dropped, it appears that up to a certain level things are ok then all of a sudden the fps dropped off, it seems that as far as I can make out I was getting blow by from the bolt o-ring once the power setting went to high, the o-ring was lifting because it needs to be a tighter fit when locked shut, so I think I will have to make the bolt length adjustable, and hope that sorts it out.

Sorted out the bolt problem causing blow by when the power was turned up, The angle of the taper on the front of the bolt is 26 deg, I made it with a 30 deg taper so it wasn't going into the barrel far enough.
The output fps as gone up to 545 @ 60*F using 7.2 grain pellets, so were back on track, the accuracy of the barrel seems very good but as a matter of cause I re-crowned it, to see if I can get any more out of it.

As usual Alstone, nice work, I wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I would have traded you a 2240 for one of your gadgets or something.
Well done. |

I believe Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun had a gold 4.5mm pistol.
Regarding grips: Lay the grip frame on a computer scanner. Print out the picture flipped at 100% actual size. (Check between a couple of convenient reference points to be sure the photo is the same scale as the frame.) Then double-face tape the photo to the wood blank and you'll have all the holes and rebates located perfectly. |
