Question will it do an air rifle barrel harm such as the Benjamin Disco or Marauder to shoot Gamo Performance Balistic Ammo?

If you consider not hitting anything harm, then yes. Otherwise they are safe to shoot in a pcp.

PBA ammo is also expensive and not suitable for hunting, so why bother even using it?

And btw, you can mess some game up with pba's, trust me.

that pba crap barely dented a picnic table coming out of my big cat, it just peeled the paint off. about ten yards away, shooting the top of it at about a ten to twenty degree angle. even if it was actually accurate, the noisiness of it defeats the point of hunting with an air rifle

Mail it to "Cash for Gold", because otherwise, not worth a piss hole in the snow. Sound cool going off (unless you want to be in stealth mode) but otherwise worthless. Would love to see how GAMO performed their accuracy tests with this stuff, probably some "one off" speciality rifle.

I think 2 years ago I was looking on the Gamo site and they stated all testing of PBA was done with the hunter extreme.

Maybe the hypersonic problems we have previously discussed (multiple times) and beaten to death (again, and again), aren't problems at such short distances that we shoot? I don't remember anyone actually going out into the field and testing these.

A friend of mine swears by the PBA pellets and will kill tree rats with nothing else. If your gun likes them, great. The only time I tried them was in a pump up and I had trouble putting two in the same county. The gun just didn't like them, maybe a different gun will.

It seems to me that a pellet would want to tumble and shimmy all over the place when it went trans-sonic, it would have to lose some accuracy. In the case of a PCP where you have enough power to really get some speed, I'd lean toward finding the heaviest pellet that grouped well. That way you won't get trans-sonic wobble and you will deliver the most energy (consistently) that you can.

I haven't found them in .22, if I do I will try them through my Marauder but I don't hold high hopes. My HB22 may like them, it's worth a try.

JL, try searching the forum for our discussions on transsonic ballistics. My new question is "how much do they wobble and tumble?".

Pyramyd Air sells the .22 PBA IIRC. Try turning your Marauder down first so they aren't going supersonic for the first tests?

I'll have to order some 22 PBAs and try them out. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for them at the retailers, I should just go for the internet order and have the darned things.

As for the new question, It seems you may have to tell us the answer. Give it a whirl and post your results.

Is it just me, or is buying a zillion different pellets and shooting every one through every airgun just a huge part of this hobby?

I've got the .22 pba's. I wouldn't use them in a springer, just co2 or pcp ag's. They feel a lot heavier than the .177s so they are probably more stable in flight.
