edit: I am afraid that the title "The Agony of Choice" isnt very english, i searched in leo dictionary and out comes that " Heavy is the head that wears the crown." would fit better ....

Hello folks

I searched for the "best airgun forum" und google told me if i have some questions, i can ask her.

I come from Austria (the country between italy and germany) and iam 20 years old.

In Austria i could bye every non-automatic rifle (doesnt matter how big it is) But what should i do with a big a$$ elephant gun if i just want to shoot accurate enough to shoot vor example a beer bottle at 200 metres/214yards)

Moreover i have a really large area in front of my house, so i am able to shoot at long distances....there is just the problem of the noise .
Even a .22 LR is too loud, expensive for funshooting and too dangerous. I also need a firearm certificate because the projektile is speed up by hot gases. This would only cost around 20 dollar/18 euro and i have to wait 3 days but a LR is just too powerfull for my application.

So I am searching for i high powerd PCP .22 Air Rifle.
The question is, which gun ?

I have 2 in sight:

The Air Arms s410 Xtra Fac Sidelever Beech Stock

or this strange form of Evanix Blizzard 10 sl Bull Barrel
http://www.mwm-trading.com/images/EvanixBlizzard10bb.jpg

I know, that the air arms is a really good gun with the accuracy what i am looking for.....but the Evanix is nearly twice as powerfull (70 joule) with the same quantity of shots per charge (35-40)

But i don`t know whats so special with this airgun. At pyramidair i saw a review where the normal Blizzard 10 is just a little bit stronger than the AA

Does anyone know this Blizzard Bull barrel ? Is it better thand AA ? Accuracy ?

I hope you can give me some Answers
thanks guys!

PS: Sorry, i posted the thread in the wrong forum , maybe some mod can push it to the Rifles Section

I read, that Evanix Rifles are bad Target shooting guns, much power, but less accuracy, is this right ?

So until now i am looking vor a very accurate gun that also keeps the heaviest pellets just closely under the sound barrier.

I like the possibility to adjust the power at the AA 410 but it would be lot better to change between 25-45 foot pounds of energy.
So i can also shoot lighter/cheaper pellet at short distances under sound barrier

Is it possible to pimp the AA up like this by simply changing the hammer-spring ?

I believe "kanyon" here owns a number of Evanix products, and perhaps some AA's as well. He would be the "expert" on Evanix I would expect.

Sometimes it is just about the power level. Mind-you multi-shot capability and so on is always nice too...

Hi... I have a Evanix AR6....
really the only thing it shears with the blizzard is the
name "Evanix"...I have never had a blizzard in my hand..

So can give you a general opinion on Evanix guns based on the
2 AR6s I have had...
The AR is the best/strongest built gun I have ever seen
there is NO plastic on it ANYWHERE...things that should be plastic are either alloy or brass...So it tends to be a bit heavy...

As far as accury.... the first AR I could head shot a rabbit out
two 80/90m body shot to 150m ? "most times"
BUT this 2nd one is proving to be bit of a problum child..
its got less than 100 pellet though it...hopeing it will come good with
a few more...
FX now use Evanix barrels....

From what I have heard/read the blizzard is a more user freindly
gun than the AR6...but it dose have 65fpe.. Twisted Evil

Have also read that the blizzards basic concept was taken from
the Career Infiniy..."have one of those as well"
Going over the specs & basic design there could be some truth to it..
Blizzard has the same power out put & shot count etc as the infinity..
The Career Infinity is a very nice gun to shoot...and 45fpe on high

Pete

Career's the top gun
AR bottom

I'd go for the Air Arms. Because they're among the best build. Might be a bit pricey over there, but you can easily do good 100 yard groupings. Probably has the smoothes fps curve too.

You could also look into the HW100 in .22, which might be closer to your place.

Thanx for the answers.

I also had a look at the Ar6, but i read that i can just make 20 good shots with one HPA filling.

Now i also read thats something like Luck how your evanix gun performs....I have not the money to test several pcps moreover there are just a few people who has a FAC PCP...most of them have a HW100 i guess

The HW100 is also a fine build rifle but with a maximum of 35 joules its one of the "weakier" pcps . Moreover the look of AA or Blizzard with shrouded Barrel (silencers are illegal in austria, but shrouded barrels are ok ^^ ) just fits better into my Brain...

To come back to the 20 shots of the AR6: If you follow the link to the Blizzard 10 sl Bull Barrel you can see that it should have 70 Joules and 35-40 shots per charge at this energy level ?

But how is this possible ? The normal Blizzard 10 (without bull barrel) has "just" 60 joules and also can 35-40 shots ?

More confusion: At pyramidair the normal Blizzard 10 should have just up to 35 ftpe which would be about 40+ joules i guess....its also the FAC version..

So one shop has to lye...pyramidair tests their gun themselves---trustful

This Bull Barel version must have a bigger HPA cartrige and also a bigger valve- or hammer spring to get such energy levels with the same rounds of shots
Moreover i can´t find this version at the official evanix-page....

I don´t need 40 shots, it would be fine, but i know that its nearly unpossible to get this number of shots at 60-70 joules without a really big cartrige.

30 good shots without dramatically switching of the impact point (which requires a smooth fps curve ) would be fine .

One time i found somewehre in the internet a special daystate or theoben which allows with the NEW valve 60 shots at 35 fpe i guess .......but the Price of an AA410 ( would you take bolt action, or sl ? ) should be the upper class....

Don't let the power blow your mind. 70 usefull joules only come from good (and pricey) regulated PCP's.

I've shot Evanixes and got tired of filling. That's why I'm a 12 Fpe fan. :p

Well, Air Arms rifles are a lot more expensive on the mainland... Neutral

I would order from this shop:
http://www.mwm-trading.com/AirRifles.html (i hope i am allowed to post that)

cause its the only shop I know which is in europe exept one other smaller in netherlands.
A AA sl beech stock cost around 900 euro i guess ...thats pretty much money for me....so i am looking around if i get something little bit stronger witch same accuracy or better..

I just like this accuracy of the AA

Allthough I'm a bolt action fan, the sidelever is pretty darn good. Wink

I am also a bolt action fan...it just looks way nicer with a silver bolt than a black normal SL...moreover there is a better "sharp-shooter-feeling" Smile

I also think, the Bolt action system is better to modifiy...

True, you can add your own bolt if you like, and can, or know someone with good smithing skills.

yes , and afterwards i will install a 300 bar cartrige with an regulator to 190 bar,,,,(or a modified valve when i want to shoot supersonic---and so that the pellet keeps a supersonic speed from barrel to target.. Mr. Green )

But iam just dreaming at the moment Rolling Eyes

You don't wanna do supersonic. Don't dream to much. Getting a 300 bar cartridge will cost you the same as a Daystate or a Theoben...
