I learned an important lesson tonight with the set screws in custom bbl bands. It's easy to overtighten them enough to throw groups. Here's a pictorial explanation:
Crosman Die #1 Premier Field Target Domes, 14.3 gr, 5 shots at 12 M with the set-screw run up as tight as I dared. 22-89 with 14" bbl. 530 fps.
Same as above with Crosman Field/Hunting Point, 14.3 gr.
Crosman Die #1 Premier Field Target Domes, 5 shots, 12 M, 530 fps, with the bbl band set screw backed out to just snug, instead of run up tight.
The differences in grouping are considerable. Just something to keep in mind when using a custom bbl. band on these guns...
Regards,

I posted similar comments a few months back but without photos.... mine were on a 24" barreled 2289 conversion.... Best results were with the set screw barely making contact with the barrel.... a drop of blue loctite was required to hold it like that....
