found this on youtube this morning. it demonstrates the maintenance procedure that RWS/Umarex recommends.

i know that some of you will scoff at a couple of the procedures, but informative nonetheless

does rws use synthetic seals?

my understanding is that you NEVER lube the airchamber with synthetic seals?

use lube not tar on the spring itself?

i'm asking as far as my b-26. over 2000 shots thru it and i've only cleaned the barrel once.

are these lubes universal or specific to rws guns only?

what is my b-26 due for? it has a good twang to it.

Scoff, I say! But seriously, it is informative - thanks for posting it.

There were a couple of places that made me cringe. At 3:47, the guy puts his finger against the breech seal without supporting the barrel with his other hand. At 3:59 he flips the gun around and the muzzle covers his partner for a moment. Probably not immediately dangerous, but the lack of caution made me nervious.

I would choose to unscrew the cleaning brush rather than pull it through again on the backstroke, just to prevent sweeping crud into the breech area (4:54).

At the very end (7:13) he says to discharge the gun into a safe backstop, which implies also loading a pellet. He doesn't come right out and say to load a pellet. That's a missed opportunity to talk about dry firing.

Anyway, it is informative; thanks for posting it.

Kind of informative, but when I got my rifle properly lubed, I'm not opening it again untill something sounds different from how it should sound.

My original 34 seal was a blue rubber. Much softer than the red Apex JM gave me.

I used some spray silicone into the chamber when all said and done. Before putting the piston back in I used just a dab of JM tar on the two ends of the piston and rubbed it around there (I also honed/polished those two areas). The spring was tarred up before installation. I intend to never lube that spring again until a new one is put in.
