I've been wanting to get into HPA airguns and have been going back and forth with whether I should buy a hand pump or invest in a scuba setup.
Well, on my way home from work today, it occured to me .... an old roomate I had left a "tank" in my shed MANY MANY years ago. I didn't know what type of tank it was or where it came from (I assumed maybe he used it for his job or maybe paintball or something). So I rush home to see exactly what it was and found this ....

Possibly one of the biggest powerlets I've ever seen! Laughing
Seriously though ... It appears to be full of C02 because there's a cap on the valve and the thing weighs a ton!

I was really hoping for a scuba tank. Crying or Very sad
And there's a company name on the tank so I doubt I can even pawn it off on anyone else without the risk of being accused of theft ... so I dunno.

I'm thinking it's gotta be worth something to somebody.
Any thoughts?

Those are the bottles used at bars and soda fountains. Great tanks IMO

I have a set of regulators for them in my basement.

A tank is a tank. It will be rated for some sort of maximum pressure- perhaps only a couple thousand psi for Co2, or maybe 4000psi for air storage- does it indicated anywhere on the tank?

Either way- it looks like you have a crapload of Co2 to feed some bulk-fed guns at the moment!

The tank is stamped "ALM" which I'm guessing means aluminum. Question
These are the only stampings on the tank.
Can you tell which would indicate psi and manufacture date?
I'd guess either "9/98" or "7/93" for manufacture date?
Maybe 1800 psi?

If it is 1800psi, that would represent C02 not necessarily HPA, right?
Could I get 3000psi of HPA in that tank? And would I be able to find someone to fill it with 3000psi HPA even though it's clearly stamped 1800psi?

And what about the company's name being on the label?
Will that prevent people from wanting to fill it?
Should I remove the tag before taking it anywhere?

And what am I gonna do with all of this C02?
This thing weighs a ton! Laughing

Found some information here ... http://www.luxfercylinders.com/support/markings/

No good for HPA airguns.

I guess I'll just take it back to the company listed on the label.

You could still bulk fill CO2 from it.

That would be it. If it's full already- might as well use it up.

That is an 1800 psi tank, whether used for CO2 or HPA....
It looks like the last hydro date is 9-98.... so you probably can't get it refilled unless you pay to get it hydro'd again.... Rolling Eyes

I think I'm gonna donate it to a paintball shop or something.
Maybe with my donation, they'll help me get a good deal on a proper tank.

I concur with Bob.... 1800 psi Last hydro 9-98

DO NOT FILL DIRECT TO A GUN FROM THIS TANK... You will blow out the gun and may cause serious injury or death.

If you have an indurustrial Gas supplier in your town... You can do a like excange and not worry about the hydro. once it is empty.

The main thing is if it has a dip tube in it. If not you will have to invert the tank to fill Co2 bottles with the liquid Co2.

You will need to fill smaller paint ball tanks using a scale to measure the amount of liquid transfered into the proper weight rating of the tank... 9 OZ is the weight of the liquid Co2 for a 9 OZ tank. 12 = 12 and so on.

Once the proper amount is in your fill tanks you will be safe to fill your gun from the paint ball tanks... NOT THE BULK TANK.
