Thanks guys. The manual says oil the chamber every 1000 rounds or so with a synthetic oil. I use MP5 on external parts, but it specifically says not to use it in the chamber.

That's because you might encounter dieseling, and you don't want that.
The chamber should be dry. You could add certain lubrications to your gun though. Search a bit for "lube tune" and you'll find something good. |

I don't believe that to be necessary, but if you do: Definitely use a synthetic oil, both for a higher flash point and also to avoid degrading the breech seal. Restrain yourself and apply one drop only. Again, probably not necessary. |

I appreciate everyones replies. I (like you) love my gun and want to make sure it works at its peak. So, if you guys don't think it is really needed, then I will not oil it.
Thanks again.

Eddie:
There are a few old timers like myself, that use an old rule-of-thumb regarding synthetic seal lube time.
"Shoot-em till the seal starts to squeak". If a teardown is not in order or convenient, a drop or two (small drops) of silicon shock oil down the transfer port.
35 wt. South of the Mason Dixon Line & 30 wt North of.
Pure silicon shock oil, in a wide variety of weights, is usually found at the more serious hobby stores that deal in remote control model airplanes and race cars.
Enjoy yourself,
