Anyone know how to remove the front sights from a 2240 barrel without damaging sights or barrel.
Thanks.

You can tap it off with a hammer and a wood block (so you don't wreck it).
If it still won't budge, get out the hair dryer or heatgun on LOW. Give it a couple seconds then tap it off.
Have at it any way you want if you don't want the sight to keep. |

The hair dryer idea is some sort of urban myth and will do nothing- the front sight is not glued on, it is only held in place by friction/tension.
Use an adjustable crescent wrench, wrap a cloth over the sight, adjust the wrench so it contacts the edges of the rear of the sight and use a mallet or hammer to tap it off. Someone or something will need to hold the gun while you do this. |

| The added heat will cause the plastic to expand, thus loosening it. In theory at least, feel free to prove me wrong. |

Metal has a greater/faster expansion rate under heat/cooling does plastic- so applying the hair dryer, if anything, will have the sight stick even more as the metal will expand before the plastic. |

| I always figured that the plastic would expand quicker. |

| I always simply use an old belt and wrap around the sight to protect it and then just tap it forward uot of the barrel. has worked ok so far on all th Crosman "22**" guns. |

friction/tension = inderferance fit
If that is the case..."I use Boiling water"..but anyways...
If the steel exspands faster than plastic with heat.....Reverse the theoy...
chill it in the freezer...the steel may shrink faster than the plastic....
