I am modding my Weihrauch HW30, I have 2 scopes Im not using to put on it. I would like to get some opinions as to which one to use on the HW30.
The first was originally bought for my 17HMR and is a Simmons 3-9x50

2nd is just the 30$ Powerline 3-9x32 Air Rifle scope

The Powerline, for two reasons:
First, a spring-powered gun has bi-directional recoil, and ordinary rifle scopes aren't constructed for that. Your HW 30 isn't super powerful, so the recoil pulses won't be as harsh, but it still recoils both ways.
Second, the Simmons is parallax corrected for 100 yards, which means the objective lens is set to focus at that range. (The ocular lens is adjusted to bring the crosshairs into focus). Besides the issue of image clarity (at airgun ranges), the point of aim will shift around, depending upon the position of your head/eye (parallax error).
So use the Powerline, but begin to save for a scope more worthy of the gun. |
