Okay, we all know the safety rules and we're all (More or less) responsible adults but still, the Stupids can strike anywhere, right? So I'm figuring there have to be some pretty good stories about screwing up with a BB gun. Hopefully, none involving the infamous YSYEO (You'll shoot your eye out!" scenario.
I'll tell one on myself and see if anybody else has the guts to come clean with a Stupid Moment.
The time: December 26th, 1981
The place: Crappy little apartment, Springlake North Carolina (Ft. Bragg area)
I was a young soldier in the Army. New wife, newer kid, (Buster Jr.) poor as churchmice but things were still good then and we were having fun.
My wife had bought me a Daisy Powerline for Christmas and due to the crappy weather, I hadn't had a chance to take it out and see what it could do yet.
I was sitting on the couch reading the manual and the wife was in the kitchen doing some dishes. I came to a passage in the manual that said two pumps would give about the same power as a "normal BB gun" whatever that means, and it occured to me that if 2 pumps was normal, one pump should just barely send the BB across the room! (see where this is going yet?)
I looked up and from where I sat on the couch, I could see my young wife's bottom wiggling in a most fetching way as she washed the dishes.
Hmmm...
One pump
Aim in
BIP!
A plate went flying one direction, a dish cloth went flying the other, and the scream sounded like Ella Fitzgerald trying to shatter crystal.
I laughed, thinking I had merely surprised her, and then noticed she was now jumping up and down in the kitchen with both hands firmly planted on her formerly fetchingly wiggling bottom.
I'd like to say I reacted differently but uhm...well, you just had to be there I guess. I started laughing even harder at the spectacle before me and got up to go explain to her how it was only one pump and didn't really hurt her at all. (I was young and not nearly as smart as I am now, really!)
She then pulls down her jeans and bends over, showing me the wound I had just inflicted on my (for a little while longer at least) loving wife.
I really meant to offer condolence and sympathy but when I saw her bare butt sticking up in the air with a perfect little BB sized welt dead center in her buttcrack, I lost it.
The laughter just wouldn't stop. I KNEW I was digging my grave with every gale of laughter, didn't matter, couldn't stop if my life depended on it.
I finally wound down, she informed me I was an "a-hole" and I agreed with her completely, then comforted her as best I could, promised I'd never do it again, and then "made up" with her as only newlyweds can "make up."
She claimed she forgave me but, well, like I said...
she was my FIRST wife.
If I'd known then what I know now, I'da pumped it a lot more! |

when i was a kid i shot my sister in the leg with my marksman1010. range was about 20 feet. 200fps. i was 8 and she was 15. she deserved it.
payback for sticking my head in the toilet and flushing it a year ealier.
ahh the 80' were fun.
of cousre we all know this behavior is utterly unacceptable and saftey is rule number one.
keep it pointed in your sister's direction. i mean, keep it pointed in a safe direction. |

Grew up on a farm in Kansas. Wheat farmers all have these corrugated metal buildings to store wheat in. They are round buildings, about 20
feet in diameter.
Four of us all had the Red Ryder and we'd get inside an empty and start blasting away at each other. Fortunately, we all had eye protection which
we normally wore while plowing the fields to keep the dust out of our eyes.
It was really loads of fun, but we always came out of there with welts all
over us. Even a miss would bounce around that tin circular structure utill
it hit someone.
Good ole' days, |

So basically, nobody else is going to cop to any stupid stories, huh?
Fine, I see how it's gonna be.

Senator, I have no recollection of that event, and all my previous statements are inoperative.

That was more straightforward. A box of Camacho Diplomas, a case of Ron Centenario Zacapaneco, and a simple wire transfer from my account in Geneva to Eric's in the Caymans. |

ok ok,
i've had bb battle with my neighbors kids(they were 19-20, shooters all their lives).
iv'e shot and watched people get shot in foot, butt, thigh, i think hand too.
the one i remember best,
is when i shot at a 2x4 ladder nailed to a tree.
i watched it............hit
and bounce straight back and hit me,
dead center,
in the middle of my glasses...didn't break the lense, but scared the CRAP outta me.
i think i was 15 |
