Wanabe Disco Carbine strikes again.
With tempatures in the low to mid 100's... The little crocs are out in an abundace...
Nailed 2 on one smoke break...
This one at 20 yards with rest... Gutted the sucker...
This one at about 10 yards makin' eyes at my wife's flowers... Neck Shot with no rest...

| Wow Joe nice shooting man. I wish I had some lizards running around here. I only get tree rats, birds, occasionally I see the groundhog that lives under the abandoned house next door. I cant wait to get my .22 cal so I can finally take him out. I'm scared to attempt it with the .177 I don't want to accidentally wound him and have him suffer, but soon very soon I will be posting a pic of this beast. He has to be about 10-12lbs. Ne ways sorry so long winded but keep the pictures comin Joe. |

Check this out...I'm all for keepin those shootin skills up, and keepin the varmints/pests at bay, but when I heard about this...I was blown away. Those "Bluebelly lizards", otherwise known as swifts, fence lizards...whatever...have a substance in their blood that cleanses young ticks of Lyme Disease. Yep, I know it sounds weird but I'll elaborate a little:
The deer tick is one of the ticks that carry Lyme disease. The tick has several stages of growth before it reaches the adult stage. In the beginning growth stages, the tick is not particular about who its host is...so it commonly gets onto rodents like mice...rodents who are always on the grond and whos belly is pretty much an easy place for the young tick to crawl up on. That includes bluebelly lizards also. As a young boy, I caught many a bluebelly with little ticks on it, right in deer territory, but never knew that the lizard had some kind of substance in its blood that killed Lyme disease, heck I'd never even heard of Lyme disease.
Once the tick is an adult, it only sucks the blood of a deer, its called "host specific." So its not the deer tick adult that gets on us and can cause lyme disease...its the stages before tick adulthood that are the problem, and the bluebelly unknowingly does its part in protecting us. I've got a lot of them in my backyard(bluebellies). I have removed them from my pest list because of their special role. I try to edjumacate everybody I can about this, because...well its important. This info about the bluebelly was just brought to light a few years ago by scientists...so the knowledge is relatively new. |

Did not know that Dave. The lizards aren't doing their job around me, since my last two dogs have gotten lyme disease (one being now deceased ).
Well... I guess it's fine since I don't go after them. The little guys often pop up on rock piles and this one old stump.
Shoot some eggs in a carton and wait on a nice hot day. Flies will be all over that. Yesterday I was shooting 2-3 flies with a single pellet there where so many of them. The wasps or yellow jackets... whatever they are... the ones that tend to hang around in the dirt to dig holes... extremely fun to shoot. If you can find a nice area that you can safely get a shot off on them... Wait for the bastards to start digging a hole and then you put a pellet right into that hole, often blowing the things apart. |
